Wego Health Awards : InvisiblyMe Is A Finalist!

The Invisibly Me logo is in the middle, which is just the each letter of the words in a different colour. There are black and white lines above and below the logo. At the top of the image is : "2020 Wego Health Awards. Best In Show Blog Finalist." Below is : www.invisiblyme.com and where Invisibly Me can be found on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram, which is @invisiblymeblog.

The Wego Health Awards 2020

The Health Awards are hosted by Wego, a fantastic platform connecting patient leaders all over the world in order to transform healthcare. Wego Health consider influencers, e-patients, collaborators, bloggers and advocates as Patient Leaders, and the Awards are their way of celebrating the achievements of such individuals.

Firstly, people nominated leaders for particular award categories. Secondly, people endorsed/voted for the nominees. I was very kindly nominated for 8 awards before nominations ended. After that, the Wego team had to whittle down the nominees to 6 in each award category, three of whom received the most votes and three of whom were chosen by the panel.

There were over 13,000 nominations for this year’s awards, making it the biggest year yet! A huge thank you to the panel for their efforts, that’s a heck of a lot to go through!

Update : Voting has ended – thank you to all who have participated in this year’s awards! Also, Wego has now become the Social Health Network.

InvisiblyMe Is A Wego Health Award Finalist!

The Wego Health Awards badge against a white background. The badge is purple, with a gold ribbon across it. It says 'Finalist for Best In Show: Blog'.

I am absolutely thrilled to announce that Invisibly Me is a finalist! I was more than a little shocked when I found out. I thought there must have been a mistake because I honestly, hand on heart, never thought I’d stand the smallest chance of getting through. A huge congratulations to all of the other finalists – there are some incredible bloggers and Patient Leaders out there, which an excellent sign for raising awareness, building community & making a positive difference.

It’s now down to the panel to assess the finalists and make their decisions as to the overall winners. I know I don’t stand the smallest chance of winning and that is totally fine by me. I’m stoked to have got this far, so I’m shocked & thrilled.

There were a few things I wanted to do when running InvisiblyMe. I wanted to share my story, because all of our stories matter. I wanted to let others know they’re not quite as alone as they may feel. I wanted to raise awareness of invisible conditions. I wanted to provide some information & advice on different health-related and lifestyle issues. I wanted to cultivate a bit of a community spirit. I wanted to encourage and empower people to focus on what they can do, not what they can’t, and to advocate for their own health.

I know I’ve got a long way to go, but considering I never thought I’d make it past the first month of blogging, I’m pleased that I’m still going. I’ve reached breaking point numerous times and thought about calling it a day because I find it so difficult keeping going when living with chronic illness & pain, and I’ve been filled with self-doubt like many of us sadly are.

I won’t lie. I find blogging, and everything that involves, pretty overwhelming at times, and InvisiblyMe isn’t even a big blog with a huge following. Everything from the ideas, photos, emails and writing, to SEO, keeping up with hundreds of other blogs, and brand promotion, can add up. I do this, as do many, on top of general life ‘stuff’ and some work from home bits & pieces.

Blogging or working with chronic illness and chronic pain is no walk in the park. I take my hat off to all of those that do it. I so often feel ridiculously behind on everything and insanely disorganised, but I also love the challenge. It’s a continual learning curve and an exciting movement to be a part of.

 ♥  ♥

I just wanted to say a gigantic thank you to all those who endorsed me for the Wego awards, and a huge thank you to everyone that likes, reads, comments and shares here at InvisiblyMe. You’re my family. Please take good care of yourselves, because you’re worth looking after. Stay safe everyone.

A photo of me in my room, smiling with long brown/red hair, a little falling over my eye on the one side and the other side is tucked behind my ear. In the background is the window with the curtain open, and a skull canvas painting on the wall behind my head, just over a fireplace. Below it reads : "Thank you! Love from Caz / InvisiblyMe" which relates to Invisibly Me being a Wego Health Awards finalist in the best blog category.

Congratulations Caz! I’m so excited for and proud of you for this accomplishment!!! I have to say, I’m not surprised at all that you’re a finalist. You’re such a bright spot here in the blogosphere. You do all the things you said you set out to do with your blog — “let others know they’re not quite as alone as they may feel….raise awareness of invisible conditions….provide some information & advice on different health-related and lifestyle issues….cultivate a bit of a community spirit….encourage and empower people to focus on what they can do, not what they can’t, and to advocate for their own health” — and you do it fabulously! Congratulations again!

I am so very happy for you, dear Caz, & much appreciate your sharing the joy wit us – definitely blogging isn’t easy, & all the less so with health challenges, life challenges, etc. when I read bloggers telling readers that they only need a few mins a few days a week to post & reply & such, 1st I wonder what I’m doing wrong & then I see that their site is not all that great lol. anyway, more importantly, I kept reading thru your post, looking for a link to how we can help you win — can we email the or something? I googled but seems not, unfortunately — so pls let us know if I’m mistaken

Oh no you’re not alone in feeling like that, da-AL! I find it can be hugely time-consuming, stressful and overwhelming, and I often wonder what I’m doing wrong if people say otherwise. I’m not organised with blogging, but there’s no ‘right’ way of doing it either, even though we’re made to feel there is. It should be more enjoyable than stressful, and to me that’s the sign of whether you’re striking a healthy balance. You do amazingly well with yours, crafting content that’s unique, thoughtful and engaging. That takes a lot of effort so you should be proud for everything you achieve, as well as the engagement you get. As for trying to help me win – that’s very kind of you to want to help! I think it’s all down to the judges now. I won’t win but it’s exciting to be involved, and I love being able to discover new bloggers by seeing who’s in the finals. Thanks for the thoughtful comment lovely. Take good care of yourself ???? xx

Im standing up and cheering for you Caz. Congratulations for a site well done.
Your website is one of the best and truly helpful for many. It’s no surprise to me that you are among the finalists for the Wego Health Awards. Keeping your blog up to date on bad days is a challenge for those with minor health issues…and with few followers. You however, help others on your worst day and this should be recognized as an award too. For that you win hands down. I will stop now, before your head swells and you get a migraine. ☺️ Love YA!

You are amazing Caz and so deserving of this wonderful recognition of your work.
One thing that has always stood out for me is your encouragement of others. As a fellow blogger I struggle to comment on other blogs but you constantly leave messages of support, encouragement and understanding on all my blog posts. You are such a breath of fresh air in the chronic illness blogging community and an inspiring patient advocate.
Thank you for being you and bringing joy and genuine care and support into our lives.

I’ve definitely learned things through reading your blog – both about conditions that I hadn’t heard of before, and about the simple things we can all do to make life a bit easier or better. Be kind to yourself and don’t let the pressure make it become a chore, but I look forward to reading more of your posts and following on your blogger journey with you.

Caz, I am insanely proud of you! In all sincerity, it would not surprise me in the slightest if you won the highest prize. Honestly. Not only are you a blessing, but your blog reaches thousands of people and improves their lives every single day. You are an encouragement, a true treasure, and a ray of hope for the hopeless. Oh how I wish that I could take your self-doubt away and help you realize how true my words are!

CONGRATULATIONS!! You deserve every recognition and success that is *surely* headed your way. I promise you, the best is yet to come!

Oh…and I must say this: you are not alone in feeling that blogging is overwhelming. Do you have any idea how comforting that is to hear for so many of us, including myself? I, too, have many many times thought about throwing in the towel. Even with the support and encouragement of so many amazing people – it’s still easy to wonder, “Am I making any difference? Does any of this matter?” We often downplay our achievements and our value. Please hear me Caz, you are needed and every word you write matters, especially when you feel or fear it doesn’t.

Aside from that, I don’t think you’re disorganized at all. There’s just so much to do, so many hats to wear, that it feels you are. I think you’re doing an incredible job, and you rock! Never forget how special you are. Again, congratulations, my friend. It’s well-deserved! ????
