Anyone else feeling the chill? It may be time to invest in a few winter warmers to keep you toasty this winter – here are a few product ideas to keep those chills away.
★ ★ ★
1. Thermal Winter Gloves
Thermal gloves are a must-have for cold hands. I love my Heat Holders gloves and wouldn’t be without them now. I have Raynaud’s and feel the cold a lot more than I ever did pre-chronic illness. I always seem to have cold hands and my joints are all the more painful in the colder weather, so keeping my paws warm is really important.
There are also thermal socks you can get, which I probably should have invested in last year as I’m sure that’d be more comfortable than 2 pairs of socks!
2. Electric Blanket or Water Bottle
Electric blankets are a thing of luxury if you fear getting into an icy cold bed or you want to snuggle up in the day time. You can also get fluffy, warm blankets to go over your mattress, and a microfibre blanket on top of your duvet can help keep in the warmth. If an electric blanket isn’t your thing, then a good ol’ water bottle can warm a bed before getting in, or be cosy to cuddle on the sofa. I’ve bought the Cassandra hot water bottle in the past and found it to be really decent.
3. Thermal Base Layer Clothing
Check out the likes of Marks & Spencer, Asda, Sainsbury’s TU and even Primark for a variation in prices and styles when it comes to thermal tops and bottoms. Amazon also have a selection of men’s and women’s thermals. The tops are brilliant because they help retain the heat and act as a thin enough base layer for you to load on additional cardigans/jumpers as required.
4. Portable Heater
A portable heater is a great way to add some heat anywhere at home or at work, especially if you want to save on central heating and only want one room warmed. You can pick them up quite cheaply too, but make sure to check how energy efficient they are and go for one that’s reasonably priced to run to suit your budget.
5. Hand Warmers
For warmth on-the-go, how about some super cute hand warmers? These would also make a thoughtful gift for the warm-hearted-cold-handed person in your life. You can get cheap palm-sized single use warmers, reusable basic ones that need to be warmed in hot water to reset them, or rechargeable ones. I opted for rechargeable Ocoopa hand warmers that have variable heat levels, are highly portable and easily charge via a USB cable.

The only thing missing is a nice pair of hand knit wool socks!
Hand-knit wool socks sounds amazingly toasty! 🙂
great ideas.~k.
Glad you liked them 🙂
While in Perú, I was told they use a blanket with ears to say warm 🙂
Aw, that sounds quite sweet!
I have bought myself a fleecy thermal mattress topper for my bed this yer and it’s lovely. Going to be warm as toast this time. I find bed socks are needed for me too. I hate having cold feed and it keeps me awake otherwise.
I may treat myself to thermal gloves this year.
I’d definitely recommend thermal gloves, I find them so much better than the regular (magic kids gloves as I have small hands…) gloves. Oooh, I used to have a fleecy thermal mattress topper when I was little, wouldn’t mind investing in another of those as I remember it being lovely. Thanks for the comment Liz – stay warm! 🙂
Indeed, wooly socks are a must, I bought some great ones from Primark the other day. Will be looking up those gloves as they sound great, as long as I manage not to lose them.
Great ideas. Those hand warmers look amazing. Did you get a new theme? I love the red border. Have a great day, hope you are doing well.
Thank you! Not a new theme, but I made the font a tad bigger & added the red background. I’m never happy with my theme, but I can never seem to get it how I want it to make it more user-friendly!
Hope you’re doing okay – have a lovely weekend 🙂
Thermal gloves are right up my street, I’ve asked for these for Christmas.
They will make a perfect & practical present to look forward to 🙂
i love thick woolly socks!
Oooh yes, thick socks and booties!
I so need to get some thermal gloves, my hands are always freezing!
They definitely make a difference – wouldn’t be without mine now! x
Oh, I definitely need some of those gloves now that my son has started football club. It’s so cold on the side lines watching him play. Off to have a look now, thanks for the recommendation!
I imagine it would be very cold, particularly if you’re sat there for a while not having things to do to take your mind off the cold or keep your blood going, like when you’re out walking. Wooly thermal gloves would be a very good idea – stay warm! 🙂 xx
These are great. I was given hello kitty hand warmers last year and love them. 🙂 xxx
I’ll have to do some online shopping for some of those as I have a thing for Hello Kitty stuff (a phase I grew into, rather than out of, as I entered my late 20s!) xx
Late autumn and winter are my favourite times of year. I like crisp air and frosty peaks. Let the chill begin so my trusty scarf and I can begin our three month yearly escapades!
You & your trusty scarf are welcome to the cold! I used to like winter when I was younger, love it actually, but since I started struggling from the cold it’s just made me grumpy. Enjoy the chilly adventures (complete with onesie and cardigan I hope) !
hand warmers are so underated, bought them once and have looked back since !x
I’m going to try the Superdrug ones, so I’m glad you find hand warmers to be good! 🙂
Awww, the little heart-shaped hand warmers are so cute! 🙂
My space heater is my hero during the fall/winter months. It gets so cold in my room without it. Even under the blankets. 😛
They are cute, aren’t they? 🙂
My room seems to get painfully cold too, glad you’ve got a space heater so you don’t freeze! Thanks for the comment xx
A nice thermal mug with something warm inside is good too.
Oh yes that’s a good one, Tony!
hmmm, I wonder if there are similar items but that keep you cool instead. It’s really hot this summer in Tucson.
I will have to draft something up for ways to keep cool this summer! 🙂
My family asks “why do you need an electric blanket”, but when our floor freezes and I realize I’m barely two feet off it I don’t mind.
Aw yes an electric blanket can be so wonderful, so ignore the comments & enjoy the warmth of it! 🙂
