Quick Quote : Courage
Courage doesn’t always roar. Sometimes courage is the little voice at the end of the day that says ‘I’ll try again tomorrow’.
I love this quote & I’m hoping it can resonate for you reading it.
I used to think I wasn’t courageous. I’ve never felt courageous, I haven’t achieved hugely amazing things; I didn’t have that burning fire to shout out to the world and tackle the impossible. I would see blog posts and videos and news articles about truly courageous people. I’d read about people with stomas who were running marathons, travelling the world and skydiving. I’d see articles about people who have overcome great odds to do something incredible. As inspiring as these stories are, they can also have an adverse effect. I was left feeling totally useless, little and unworthy.
What Is Courage? Redefine It
Courage is not always about doing something big, newsworthy, awe-inspiring. It can be a quiet roar. It can simply be keeping going. Fighting the good fight. Moving from one challenge to the next, however big or small. It can be making the decision to wake up the next day and try again.
So, the next time you assert yourself, the next time you go out of your comfort zone, that you try a new medication, that you go to a nerve-wracking appointment, that you have have those difficult conversations, that you resolve to try again tomorrow, remember that you are courageous. You are a warrior, whether your roar is loud or a whisper.

Wonderful quote, love such positivity and very inspiring!
It’s brilliant, but I think a lot of us need to remind ourselves of it far more often. Thanks, Nisha! Have a great weekend x
I love this quote, too – thank you for sharing it.
That’s fab, great that you love it too! Thanks, Liz, have a great weekend =]
This is one of my favourite quotes.
It’s brilliant, glad you’re a fan of it too! 🙂
I LOVE this!!! I had never thought of courage from this perspective before. Thanks for sharing it 🙂
I’m really pleased it gave you a new perspective on courage and that you liked it! Have a lovely weekend xx
That’s true, courage isn’t always showy and heroic. Celebrate those victories!
Exactly! It doesn’t have to be a big victory, it doesn’t have to make the news. We underestimate our own achievements & courage at the small, day to day things and the strength to try again. Thanks, Jay – have a lovely weekend 🙂
I agree with your assessment of courage. Love the quote.
Have a fabulous day. ♥
Thanks, and I’m glad you love the quote too! Have a lovely weekend =]
Yes!!! There are times when the most courageous person shows their courage through peace and quiet. 🙂
Very true. The quiet ones, and the reserved nature of courage. Thanks for the comment, Mimi – have a great weekend! 🙂
True, and very encouraging! Needed this today! Thanks.
Please remember this quote when you need the reminder again, Viola – you are more courageous than you think! Thanks for the comment xx
This is a brilliant and encouraging quote! You always seem to share exactly what I need at the perfect time! You really are a breath of fresh air Caz!!!
I’m so glad you found it encouraging and good timing – remember the quote and remind yourself that you’re courageous & awesome the next time you start beating yourself up. Love to you Alyssa, have a good weekend xx
Amen sister! I once was told not to compare my life to those in other similar circumstances. Because all we see is their ‘highlight reel’ not the day to day stuff. There is no way to compare. Roar! xoxo
‘Highlight reel’, that’s a great expression and definitely true – whoever told you that was a smart cookie. Roaaaaaar! x
So true! We need to celebrate our small victories to make progress every day! ????
Definitely – the small achievements and simply keeping going from day to day are very underrated! Thanks for the comment – have a lovely weekend 🙂
Wonderful!
Glad you liked it – have a great weekend! 🙂
Wonderful post Caz! You truly are a courageous woman, even when you don’t feel like you are. I love this quote so much – it ‘s so encouraging when I’m feeling the day has been a “fail” or that I’m “less than.” Pinning this and sharing on FB page!
Thank you, Terri! You are one amazing lady and I hope that you apply this to yourself and remember the courage it takes doing the smallest of things, let alone persevering over time, trying again and keeping going. Love to you – Hope you have a positive weekend ♥
I think the courage to persist is harder than the big courage that makes a splash but is a one time thing. Persisting daily is hard — like Agatha Christie persisted through 5 years of rejections before finally getting her book published. Most people would have given up after the first or second year. The little courage daily won’t make newspapers (usually) but I think it’s a bigger courage though harder than the big impulsive courage that does make the news.
That’s very true about the longevity of courage when you’re having to persist with something. Great example with Agatha Christie, too! Such a fantastic point – thank you so much for sharing, Mary! x
Hi Caz
Very true hun x
I’m digging deep into my courage reserves to leave my comfort zone and go on a last minute weekend break . I don’t like going away because my health is so unstable but I’m going to try and just go xx
That’s fantastic, Lauraine! I can understand how difficult it would be to consider going away given health issues and stepping out of your comfort zone, let alone booking it & doing it. I will keep my fingers very much crossed that your health is okay and that things go smoothly. If you can, try to relax to it (easier said than done), remember that you’re stronger than you think, & that you more than deserve a lovely break. Really hope you have a good time!! Caz x
I love this, Caz!!
Yay, glad you like it, Christy! 🙂
This is such a beautiful quote – and the way you describe courage is… courageous! Thank you fir the lovely motivation, have a great day x
Thanks so much, Erin. Really glad you liked the post – remember this when you next question your own courage! xx
Hi! I love this, having to have to deal with Crohn’s on a daily basis myself I’m totally with you here. Inspiring!! Keep up the great work x
I’m sorry you’re struggling with Crohn’s and that you know how challenging it can be going from day to day, but you should definitely be proud of all the small achievements. You are quite the inspiration with your blog and how much work you put into it! Hope you’re having a good weekend lovely xx
Nicely said. ????
Thank you, hope you liked it! 🙂
How very true this is!! Thank you for this.
Hope you liked it – Thanks for stopping by & commenting 🙂
Can the ending be anymore amazing?! I love this! People often tell me I’m couragous for having gone through so many surgeries and living with chronic pain, however I fail to see this in myself. But, I am a warrior when I think after two of the most high risk surgeries I’ve had, could’ve well put me six feet under. ‘You are a warrior. Whether your road is load or a whisper.’ Simply amazing! Thank you for the reminder! ????????????
I’m glad that you can see where I’m coming from with this, and so happy you liked the post!! Thank you for taking the time to read & share your own experiences, Ana – have a lovely weekend! 🙂
Caz xx
