Super Sparrow BPA Free Water Bottle Range Review

A photo of the three Super Sparrow BPA free bottles I've been gifted to review. Below is the title: Super Sparrow Bottles Review

I’ve been a fan of Super Sparrow bottles for a couple of years now as I love their sports bottles, so I was thrilled when the brand reached out to me and asked if I’d like to review some more of their BPA free range. Let’s take a look at Super Sparrow & what they have to offer.

They also offer a few accessories for your bottles. Who says drinking water can’t be stylish?

BPA-Free Water Bottles : Why Go BPA-Free?

I’ve written previously about going BPA-free. Many products, both single use & reuse, might contain BPA without you realising, and it’s an issue that’s getting more attention in recent years.

BPA (bisphenol A) is a chemical that has been in use since the 60s, predominantly found in epoxy resins and polycarbonate plastics. It’s used in bottles, packages, plastic cutlery/tableware and containers, as well as the insides of some metal products like cans and food tins. It’s been found to seep from bottles and containers into our food and drink.

Exposure to BPA has been linked to various health issues, though the FDA rules it safe in very small amounts. Regularly using products that contain BPA, especially reusing them, is therefore a worrying thought.

The true extent of the dangers and ramifications of BPA exposure are fully not known, but it’s believed to have potentially damaging effects on the endocrine system, brain function and hormones, and that it’s a contributory factor to various cancers, heart disease, birth defects and illnesses.

The best advice is to reduce it where possible and opt for BPA-free alternatives.

Super Sparrow Review : My Thoughts

I was kindly gifted three bottles to test drive. The Tritan sports bottle is the only one I’ve used before, this time in a different colour. The other two were totally new to me.

Wide Mouth :

A photo of the rich blue Super Sparrow Wide Mouth bottle gifted for this review, standing on a white desk against a white backdrop. The handle is up. To the bottom right is the InvisiblyMe branding.

The wide mouth bottles are insulated and made from BPA-free silica gel and food-grade stainless steel. They’re food-safe, suitable for kids and adults, and they’re recyclable. These doubled-walled bottles have vacuum insulated technology with a vacuum-seal cap to ensure your liquids stay either hot for 12 hours or cold for 24 hours

These have a unique design that uses a ‘spray colour holding process’, giving it a soft matte texture. The streamlined shape makes it easy to hold and use, while the small flexible handle on the lid makes it easy to carry or attach to your bag.

I personally love how this one looks and how it feels. It has a sophisticated design that’s distinctive with the softer matte texture, while also being sturdy and versatile.

I’m really pleased with this one! Unfortunately it’s currently only available in Europe, but there may be stock back in the US in 2021.

Standard Mouth :

A photo of the standard mouth Super Sparrow bottle gifted for this review, standing on a white desk against a white backdrop. It has a silver with cork lid and a black 'coat' with straps. Around the bottle is the interchangeable lid, two straws, a straw cleaner, and a carabiner. To the bottom is the InvisiblyMe branding.

These are some seriously impressive, hardcore bottles. With the standard mouth bottle, you’re not just getting a bottle, you’re getting a package of awesomeness. Inside the box you’ll find the bottle itself, a ‘jacket’ with straps, an interchangeable lid, carabineer, two reusable straws and a cleaning brush.

The jacket is a great addition for keeping drinks the ideal temperature, making carrying convenient and preventing any damage to the bottle when out and about.

This has an interchangeable drinking cap. The first is the loop cap, which looks like a cork with a metal handle, which you can secure with the carabineer to bags or whatever else for extra convenience. You can use straws in the wide mouth, making it a little more disability-friendly. The other attachment is the sports cap, which delivers a high flow rate for smooth, easy drinking without needing to remove the cap, making it perfect for on-the-go activities or sports.

This is a great hot or cold bottle. Stainless steel is heat-resistant, so you can safely keep hot fluids in this bottle and reuse over time without any warming or cracking. Meanwhile, cold fluids stay chilled without any condensation or sweating.

The bottle is, much like all the Super Sparrow bottles, ergonomically designed. It’s shaped so that most people can use it one-handed and it has a very robust form with hardwearing materials. I can see this being fantastic for sports or camping, but I’m looking forward to using it for picnics once the pandemic is in the rear view mirror.

Tritan Sports Bottle :

A photo of the vibrant deep pink or fuchsia colour Super Sparrow bottle gifted for this review, standing on a white desk against a white backdrop. To the bottom right is the InvisiblyMe branding.

This is a superior sports bottle, made with craftsmanship and BPA-Free Tritan Copolyester. It’s shaped in such a way to make one-handed use possible for most people. The materials look sleek, but it’s a pretty sturdy bottle. This is the bottle I’ve bought and used myself for a few years now. I’ve had purple and greeny blue shades, so I thought I’d go for something different with a vivid pink. I’m not a pink girl, and yet this really appealed to me. It’s a rich, deep pink that’s eye-catching and happy.

The carry strap is very handy, which I find useful just for carrying around the house when I’ve got my hands full with other things. The lid is simple to use with a push-button function: Push the button at the front and the lid pops up, revealing the spout for drinking from. Push the lid until it clicks closed after use. It’s designed for one-handed use and it’s spill-proof, dirt-proof and leak-proof. There’s a small air hold on the lid by the drinking spout to allow for effortless drinking with the fast flow of water.

I’ve found the lid to work very nicely. It’s well made so you shouldn’t have any problems with it sticking or breaking after only a few uses. I also like the little catch; pull this down and it’ll lock the lid in place, so you can’t accidentally push the button and open the lid. This is very useful when putting the bottle in your bag!

I’ve found it very convenient to use and haven’t had issues with the open/locking function, unlike with some plastic bottles that have rather tacky plastic lids that don’t last long. Of the bottles I’ve used over the years, they’ve all lasted very well and I’ve only swapped between bottles out of choice, not out of encountering any faults.

These Tritan Sports Bottles come in a range of colours. Some are more ‘matte’ in looking frosted, like the purple one I used to have. Others, like this pink one in the photo, are glossy and clear. These two styles and the colours are rich and vivid, which a great selection to choose from in a range of sizes.

What I especially love is just how good water tastes from these sports bottles! I keep mine in the fridge when not in use to keep it nicely chilled. It tastes so clean and delicious in a way that it doesn’t when poured in a glass or an inferior plastic bottle.

Eco Friendly

I’ll admit I used to reuse, years ago, regular plastic water bottles like Evian. It wouldn’t take long before you could smell them. I’d also gone through a few really cheap reusable bottles and the same thing happened there; after a few uses and cleans, the bottles would develop a foul smell, and these wouldn’t have been BPA-free either.

Single use plastic is something the world is trying to get away from. If you can cut down your consumption, recycling and reusing where possible, then you’re doing a good thing for the environment. I’d also argue it’s a more cost-effective solution, especially if you’re regularly buying single use plastic drinks bottles.

Quality

One of the things I really love about Super Sparrow bottles are their quality. I’ve found them to be reliable and hard-wearing, making them a worthwhile investment that should last you a while.

I’ve had cheaper bottles in the past that have not lasted longer than two or three months because bits have broken off or they’ve developed a pong that refuses to disappear.

As I mentioned with the Tritan bottle, I love how clean drinks taste in these bottles. That there’s no BPA hidden in the product makeup anywhere is also very reassuring.

Cleaning

Bottles can easily be washed and reused for ongoing use. With the plastic Tritan bottle, I tend to just rinse the bottle and mouthpiece before refilling, then give it a thorough clean once a week using warm water and detergent before leaving to air dry.

With the standard mouth bottle, you’ll get the cleaning brush for the reusable straws which is handy to have as these can be tricky to clean otherwise. The rest of the bottle is simple to wash out with a little detergent and dry.

Practical Functionality

I find the plastic sports bottles are especially practical. They’re sturdy and rugged for taking on-the-go, with a wrist strap and a handy lock mechanism to stop you accidentally popping open the lid.

The standard and wide mouth bottles are particularly well-built for taking out with you, whether that’s to the shops, the gym or a camping expedition. For more hardcore adventures, the standard mouth with the jacket and strap can be particularly useful.

I actually use my plastic sports bottles at home daily. Instead of using a glass for water, which I’m prone to knocking over or leaving it out for the hairy cat to get his fur in, I use a bottle. It’s so much easier and safer, and it tastes amazing from the bottle too. Since getting these three bottles here, I fully intend to use all of them at home, but the wide and standard mouth bottles for warm drinks. too.

All of these bottles are very versatile for around the home or out & about, whether that’s at work, out walking, at the the gym, hospital appointments, camping, hiking the Himalayas or having a quiet picnic in the park.

In A Nutshell

I wouldn’t go back to other reusable bottles since using these. I’ve been happy over with my Tritan sports bottles over the last couple of years and I’ll continue using them, but now I’ll be using more in the range as well.

Each type of bottle manages to tick all of the boxes: Convenient and easy to use, great quality, hard-wearing, they look fantastic, drinks taste lovely, and they’re all highly practical. A brand & product line I’d highly recommend!

Have a fabulous day and week, Caz. ♥

Thanks, Sandee, I’m glad you liked the review! I also used to drink from those & reuse them often, but once you start catching the yucky smell you know it’s not right..! They’re apparently more dangerous when they’ve been warmed too, so if it’s warm where you are or left in the car there’s more risk. Personally I’m glad to have moved to reusable BPA-free, but it doesn’t mean you can’t have odd single-use bottles from time to time when you’re out and don’t have your own to refill. xx

This is a fantastic review Caz! I never leave the house without a bottle of water, and these look fantastic. I love stainless steel water bottles. I especially like the one with the jacket. It seems like you could take it anywhere and get your fresh, good-tasting water without having to worry about it getting dinged up or leaking. Thanks for introducing me to the Super Sparrow bottles.

I was always one for the plastic BPA-free ones, probably because they’re so casual and come in different colours, but having used the stainless steel I’m a convert! I love them all, and they each have their own use for different purposes. The jacket is fab, isn’t it? Such a good idea. Thanks, Terri, I’m really pleased you like the review! ???? xx

Staying hydrated for you is super important then, Tamtam. I used to get up in the middle of the night and reach for my glass, only to knock it over. The benefit of these plastic bottles is that you can knock them everywhere & they won’t leak! ???? xx

Standard disposable water bottles are pretty scary! We usually recycle glass bottles, but they are heavier and can break. I have tried metal bottles, but don’t like the taste. This BPA-free bottle looks like a good option. Thank you for this post!

It’s scary on both counts, isn’t it? The environmental concerns and the health concerns. Hopefully with more awareness there’ll be a gradual shifts towards more BPA-free bottle use, but it would help if there were free water points worldwide, which is unlikely to happen any time soon. I must admit I didn’t notice any taste with these stainless steel bottles, which is good. I know what you mean though. I had a cheapy steel flask before and it was pretty disgusting, ditto other plastic bottles I’ve tried. I can honestly say the Super Sparrow ones are so much better than anything I’d used before, and I think that water tastes lovely in the sports bottle. Thanks for the comment, Cheryl – take good care of yourself ???? x

A great review, Caz.
I haven’t seen these, as yet, in the stores here. But then, I haven’t really looked for them either.
They do look really cute, and, from your review, really practical too.

I’ll definitely be purchasing! I’ve been looking for a new bpa-free bottle since my last one broke. I usually like 1lire capacity with a wristband strap attached so I can carry it about when I’m up and down at work

These look great, Caz. I always use a water bottle at home, because like you said, if I had a glass of water sitting, I’d spill it. I’ll be honest though, I had no idea as to whether or mine was BPA free. I googled the brand and was pleased to find that it is. I do have a problem with mine as it sometimes leaks when I lift the spout. Nothing like lying in bed getting soaked from a leaking water bottle, so I will take a look at these Super Sparrow Bottles.
Thanks for sharing.

Charlee: “Super … Sparrow?”
Chaplin: “So how many sparrows does each one come with?”
Charlee: “I don’t know but I can’t wait to find out. I’m ordering ten of them now.”
