Mini Me Update [ 17/11/2019 ]

by InvisiblyMe
A birds-eye view of a cup of coffee on on a wooden table, with just the edge of a Macbook keyboard and a notebook with pen visible to the right. The post title 'Mini Me Update' is to the left.

Hey! How is everyone doing? It’s that time again – the selfish me-me-me post! I thought I’d just do a little update but I promise I’ll try not to moan… too much. I hope you all have a lovely week ahead.

Stoma Shenanigans

I had a brilliant time at the Gloucestershire stoma care day. These are days when stoma companies get together and have stalls for us ostomates to have a mooch around, allowing us to see what other products are out there. I got lots of samples to try & some fab freebies too – I’m a sucker for pens! So inclusive & welcoming, and it was nice to get out and do something a little different, even if it was for less than an hour. I should note that not all of the pens are mine. My mother came with my for company so the pen haul is split 50/50. I’m greedy, but not that greedy!

A photo of the freebies I picked up, including stoma samples, sweets and pens.

In other stoma-related news… A lovely online friend of mine, I’ll just refer to her as ‘Chris’, has a stoma and makes bag covers as a hobby. She has such a kind heart that she gives them away and makes things for her local hospital for the children there, too. She very generously made me four stoma bag covers and they are absolutely amazing. I’m a sucker for Hello Kitty and the Hungry Caterpillar cover matches nicely with the storage boxes in my room. You’re never too old for these kinds of things! It restores you faith in the world a little when you know there are such kind people out there.

I feel like I’m still waiting for the summer, but alas it looks like winter is well and truly here. My body thinks it’s been winter since September as I don’t seem to regulate temps very well, so the cold isn’t much fun for me. Does anyone else find the cold increases their symptoms, especially chronic pain?

Given the drop in temperature, my catkins has decided to grace me with his presence most days now. When I’m trying to work, he offers to help by sitting on my laptop. When I’m too poorly, he snuggles up next to me. He just likes me for my blankie and the central heating. Although I’m still not really a cat person, he has stolen my heart. He can be pretty cute when he wants to be.

“If I can’t see you, you can’t see me”.
A photo of my black and white cat on my bed, lying on a blanket with the laptop in front of him, leg outstretched as though reaching for the mouse.
“I’ll just do a little shopping first, then I’ll get straight to work. Honest.”

Health Jazz

Things have been rather rocky lately and I’ve felt overwhelmed with things to do but neither the time nor health with which to do them. It’s never enough, and I’m aware I’m making myself more poorly with the pressure of it, but at the same time it’s very difficult getting off the wheel of destruction!

The EUA (‘examination under anaesthesia’ done laparoscopically) and exploratory procedures wasn’t the ‘small’ op they’d like to you believe. I actually struggled quite a lot with it. I’ve spoken recently with the surgeon about the possible upcoming big op, which disappointingly sounds even more difficult and dangerous than first anticipated. A second opinion from another surgeon was that I should have this op, but he didn’t think my body would survive the ‘trauma’ of it at the moment. Just as well there’s a lengthy wait list! It’s one of those catch-22 situations; damned if you do, damned if you don’t.

With my lungs, a chest CT and other tests have shown hyperinflation of the lungs and possible bronchiectasis, basically with chronic scarring damage. This has been caused by the recurrent chest infections I had a while ago, which were treated I think 7 times with steroids and antibiotics. It feels like my lungs, the left especially, are being squashed, hence the use of inhalers. Inflammation has also been found, but the lung doc isn’t sure what’s causing it (though oddly enough the EUA also found high inflammation levels elsewhere in my body). The aim is to avoid further infections but with a weakened immune system it’s a case of hoping for the best.

After some issues with the stitches, the scars from the EUA are now healing nicely. I am curious whether there’s a Helen Lowe or a Harry Locke working in the operating theatre. It does seem like someone’s carved their initials into me! This is a poor photo as it was incredibly difficult to get a clear shot. Maybe I do need one of those selfie sticks after all.

A photo of my abdomen showing the side of my bag and the scars from my EUA procedure. The scars appear to look like the letter H at the top and lower down the letter L.

Aside from this, it’s the same as usual – chronic pain, managing each day as it comes, but losing too many days to feeling too unwell with migraines/sickness/general illness. But, things could always be worse, so I’m grateful that they’re not.

Best Frugal Find

I signed up for a super cheap trial of Amazon Music Unlimited as I’ve never used it before – 99p for 4 months! I do love a bargain ????Just remember to cancel within this time if you don’t want to continue the subscription (usually £9.99 per month or £7.99 p/m with Prime). It’s a limited time offer but I’m not sure how long for.

You get unlimited access to 50 million+ songs with no ads, and you can either stream or download to listen to it offline. It’s very versatile as I’ve used it on my laptop through the browser, but you can download on the app to use on your phone/tablet to stream whatever tracks you’d like. If you have an Alexa device you can also play it hands-free via that. If you want to have a look-see, you can find the offer on Amazon UK here. If you’re in the States, they’re running the same 4 month offer for $0.99 here.

An ad for Amazon Music, with 5 months for £0.99 limited time only.

What I’m Loving This Month – Heat Holders Gloves Mini Review

I think many of us likely feel the cold quite a lot, myself included, so I’m loving my winter warmers to snuggle up in. I also have Raynaud’s and erythromelalgia so thermal gloves are a must. If you’re looking for snuggly things, SockSnob is a site I’d recommend as they have oodles of funky designs and winter warmers, from gloves and scarves, to hats and blankets. They stock different brands, including Heat Holders, and they have accessories for men, women and kids.

A photo collage of the Heat Holders Trondheim design gloves. Black with white / grey fairisle patterns.
Heat Holders Trondheim design from SockSnob

I’ve previously bought the Heat Holders cable knit gloves and they rarely leave my hands in winter. SockSnob very kindly gifted me the Trondheim fairisle design to try and I’m a little bit in love with them. Fleece lined, 2.5tog, soft material, very snug and warm and they fit well in the S/M size even with my small paws.

In other news, I managed to finally managed to find a squirrel prepared to pose for a photo shoot! On my way through town to the GP, I met this little guy and we had a brief staring contest.

Close-up photograph of a squirrel climbing a tree, looking into the lens of the camera.

How have you been lately? Have you stared down any squirrels? I hope the week ahead is kind to you all!

Oh gosh. Guess I’m not sure what EUA is and what the surgeries are for. Sounds like you are definitely in the midst of a major challenge with much more to come. I love squirrels too!!

InvisiblyMe November 19, 2019 - 3:32 pm

Sorry, Ruth, I updated the post as I should have written what it actually was! It’s ‘examination under anaesthesia’, so they go in, have a rummage around to see what’s what, they stitch back up. Squirrels are fab, aren’t they?! ???? xx

PamelaJessen November 17, 2019 - 5:09 pm

It’s always such a joy to read your updates. I’m sorry you’ve been feeling generally unwell and I hope that passes quickly. I love all the goodies you’ve received lately. Such fun stoma covers!!

Sending my love for bright days ahead!! oxoxox

InvisiblyMe November 19, 2019 - 3:34 pm

Aww thank you, Pamela. I always feel selfish talking about me-me-me in these sorts of posts and I’m mindful not to be too much of a grumpster in them (emphasis on ‘not toooooo much’ ????) I hope you’re keeping as well as possible – have a good week lovely xx

grace January 13, 2020 - 9:27 pm

I always enjoy your mini me updates!!!!!! Though sometimes I wish you would really let someone have it. When I’m about to lose my shit, you are often one of the first people I think of that keeps it together. You’ve seen my blog, is there even one post that doesn’t have some kind of cuss word in it?

InvisiblyMe January 14, 2020 - 9:12 am

Hahah, believe me, I lose my shit a lot and I swear for English (I also pee for England, but that’s another matter). Christmas was a total write-off so technically on the next update I could go all out and let this person have it. What do you reckon? ???? xx

Sandee November 17, 2019 - 5:16 pm

I love getting free stuff too and pens are always welcome. I love those covers. So pretty and what a great idea.

Aw on the kitty. He’s a handsome mancat. I lined this post to Feline Friday.

Have a fabulous day and week, Caz. ♥

InvisiblyMe November 19, 2019 - 3:36 pm

Thanks for the comment lovely, my fellow freebie fan! It’s the small, simple joys in life ???? ‘Handsome mancat’, I love that! I’m sure he’ll appreciate the complement, he already struts around like he knows he’s too cool for this place. Have a lovely week, Sandee xx

Ashley November 17, 2019 - 5:40 pm

Those bag covers are fabulous!

I hope you’re able to get through this winter without any respiratory infections. ❤️

InvisiblyMe November 19, 2019 - 3:37 pm

Thanks, Ashley! I hope so too, not sure what’ll happen if I get another chest infection now. I hope this week is kind to you ???? xx

Liz November 17, 2019 - 5:45 pm

It was my week off both jobs which I really needed, but how I feel, I don’t want to go back. Especially the morning one. As you know, things have remained difficult.

I hope your winter doesn’t prove difficult with infections.
Freebies are nice and you have done well with those.

InvisiblyMe November 19, 2019 - 3:39 pm

I’m glad you had a little break, but you’ve got so much going on that it’s not surprising you wish it were longer. I really do hope things can ease up a bit and that things start to go a little better, at least in a few areas, just to make life a little brighter. Hang in there, things will change.. You’ve got through an incredibly difficult year. xxxx

Rachael Stray November 17, 2019 - 6:23 pm

Those covers are fab and that’s so lovely that Chris makes them for people. I’ve got scarring on my lungs after a bout of double
Pneumonia when I was 11 I have to be so careful with my chest as I’m so prone to chest infections I also have seasonal asthma – the cold makes it much worse.

InvisiblyMe November 19, 2019 - 4:02 pm

Oh no, I didn’t realise you had lung scarring, Rachael. I’m so sorry – do you find you get a similar feeling with it, like a tightness in your chest, can’t fully breathe in/out, like your lungs are being squashed? I find the cold makes things worse, too, but I wasn’t sure why, just one of those odd things. Wrap up warm – I hope you’re able to control the asthma with inhalers and manage to stay chest infection-free! Sending hugs xx

Marian Allen November 17, 2019 - 6:35 pm

Hello Kittyyyyyyyyyyyy!!!!!

I haven’t stared down any squirrels, but I had a stare-down with a deer the other day. He was eating our hostas! I knocked on the window and said, “Not the hostas!” He just looked straight at me, chewing, a hosta leaf hanging out of his mouth! Cheeky.

InvisiblyMe November 19, 2019 - 4:10 pm

Naughty deer! I bet he had a knowing smirk on his face and a twinkle in his eye as he nonchalantly continued devouring his snack, too! ???? xx

violaetcetera November 17, 2019 - 7:15 pm

Those stoma bag covers a lovely, and you never get too old for Hello Kitty or the very hungry caterpillar!
I hope you continue to heal and stay away from chest infections!

InvisiblyMe November 19, 2019 - 4:11 pm

I’m glad you agree, never too old! Thank you for the lovely comment, Viola. I hope you’re keeping well.. have a restful week lovely  ♥ xx

wendi November 17, 2019 - 7:21 pm

you have been on my mind a lot so thank you for the update. i hope you don’t mind, i would like to start praying for you and your upcoming surgery…….i am so sorry that you have been feeling so ill recently.

sending you love………

InvisiblyMe November 19, 2019 - 4:26 pm

Aww, Wendi, that’s so kind of you. Thank you for thinking of me. I appreciate your friendship and your compassionate wishes. I hope you are keeping as well as possible and this week is a positive one for you  ♥ xx

Terri, Reclaiming HOPE November 17, 2019 - 8:01 pm

Caz, I’m so sorry you’re having such a difficult time of it, and that you’re facing such a major ordeal. I hope they’re able to pinpoint the source of the inflammation so they can get it under control before your next surgery.

Your stoma covers are lovely, and it was so nice of Chris to give them to you. Your kitty is also adorable. They always seem to know just how to “help” don’t they?

I have Amazon music, and I love it. I just tell Alexa to play whatever I want to hear and the next thing I know it’s playing.

Sending lots of love and hugs your way sweet friend!

InvisiblyMe November 19, 2019 - 5:10 pm

Thank you for such a lovely comment, Terri. It really was lovely of Chris, the covers are fab! As for the kittykat ‘helping’, I think our feline friends just know how to wrap us around their little paws far too well! I have one of those Google Home minis, but never use it.. I couldn’t get it to link up with my Macbook in any way and got frustrated so I gave up. I wonder if that would link up to Amazon Music? When I get some time I’ll give it a go – glad you’re already a fan of it! I hadn’t used a paid-for streaming service before but I’m impressed.
I hope this week treats you kindly – wrap up warm, relax and let Alexa keep those tunes rolling! ???? xx

Samantha November 17, 2019 - 9:09 pm

Hi Caz – it’s been a while since I visited your blog and I just wanted to say thank you for being one of my most consistent visitors and commenters too – much appreciated! ☺????

However…it does sound like you’ve been through the mill a bit! You have my sympathy and support, friendship too!

Funny you should mention squirrels…there was an enormous fat one in the garden this morning happily digging up my crocus bulbs…till I ran out and bellowed at it! ????????xxx

InvisiblyMe November 20, 2019 - 5:41 pm

You’re very welcome! I love your blog so it’s a pleasure to read & comment. Hahah, you show that squirrel who’s boss! Thank you for the lovely comment ???? xx

Annie November 17, 2019 - 9:59 pm

Dear, dear Caz—

So very sorry to hear of your numerous health challenges.
I wish I weren’t across the pond, so I could perhaps be of some assistance as needed.

The above links are to a tech’s assessment of an app for chronic pain, which he said dramatically improved his wife’s dreadful migraines, and to the app itself. I haven’t tried it yet but plan to do so shortly. I thought of you as soon as I heard about it and hope it will provide some relief.

Sending my most positive thoughts that your health remains stable all winter—and if the Big Op is inevitable, you’ll eventually be telling us that it wasn’t as bad as anticipated, and your strong will and wonderful spirit helped you sail through to an uneventful recovery and much greater comfort.

All good wishes,
Annie xx

InvisiblyMe November 21, 2019 - 12:43 pm

Aww thank you, Annie. And you’re very thoughtful to send me those links, thank you! I hadn’t come across that app before but it sounds like an interesting one so I’ll have to give it a go. I hope you find it beneficial when you try it, too. I love learning about the latest things in health and wellbeing, especially if it’s targeted at those with chronic illness or chronic pain, because I think we need all the help we can get sometimes. I hope you have a good rest of your week, and thanks again! ????xx

Bree November 17, 2019 - 10:14 pm

I love mini me updates xx those stoma covers are awesome and kudos to the lovely lady for making them. Love the squirrel ???? ????. I had a op last week Wednesday on my nose and I have just gotten over the drugs and anesthetiser? They used. My brain was pure fudge for two days. I’m waiting at the hospital right now for my kidney specialist. Hopefully bloods I had taken last week are good. The cardiologist wants me to go on a drug that he even said can cause massive weakness in the muscles. His comment of if you can’t get out of the chair we will have to change it??? I’m like wth. So will speak with the nephrologist this morning and see what he normally prescribed. Take care xx

InvisiblyMe November 21, 2019 - 3:53 pm

Oh Bree, I didn’t know about your op – how are you doing now? May I ask what it was for? Any procedure, even what they consider to be ‘small’ and ‘easy’, can really take it out of you. I hope you’re doing a little better each day and I’ll keep my fingers crossed your bloodwork comes back without any issues raised. As for the mediations, too many drugs seem to have some pretty awful potential side-effects. It’s like trying to get one problem under control while creating a whole new one! What did the nephrologist say? Hopefully there are other options so if you’re not happy with what they’re suggesting you can ask for another opinion and to see what alternatives there are. Bless you for reading this and commenting, especially with everything you’ve got going on!  ♥ xx

Jay November 17, 2019 - 10:32 pm

Those stoma covers are so cheerful, what a blessing!

InvisiblyMe November 21, 2019 - 3:55 pm

I know, right? So funky!! xx

Niamh November 17, 2019 - 11:36 pm

Hey Caz sorry to see you got wiped by the EUA. It probably is for the best the next one has a waiting period. They never seem to recognise just h ow invasive non-invasive surgeries can be for us. I do hope your strength is up when the next one is scheduled. Your gloves look amazeballs! I lost a brand new pair gifted me by my sister’s mother-in-law. I lost them the very same night when we went out to dinner. When I called the place no one had handed them in so the next pair I get won’t leave my side either. I can’t get over how close you got to the squirrel such a great shot! <3

InvisiblyMe November 21, 2019 - 4:03 pm

It makes me feel like I’m a huge weakling when they say ‘oh it’s a small procedure, nice and easy for you’ and then struggle like hell for weeks afterwards! They don’t take into consideration other health problems someone has and what their general health is like when they say these things. I’d rather know the worst case scenario, because that would make me feel better if I could manage better than they expect ???? Oh no, how annoying about your gloves!! If it was inside the place that you took them off and lost them then it’s such a shame nobody was kind and honest enough to hand them in. You’ll have to get those glove ‘leashes’ so you can attach them to your coat when you get a new pair! Thanks to much for the lovely comment, Niamh. I hope you have a lovely rest of your week xx

Svet November 18, 2019 - 1:08 am

Dear Caz, you are so brave and incredible! How you ended with a cat in the house if you’re not a cat person? I have my cat for over a year now, but I always thought that I am a dog person.

InvisiblyMe November 21, 2019 - 4:07 pm

Aww, that’s so kind of you to say, even though I’d have to disagree on both points of brave & incredible. I think ‘grumpy’ describes me more accurately ???? The catkins adopted us. He was the next door neighbour’s cat but I could tell he wasn’t being well looked after at all, so I started putting him water out, taking him inside in the horrible weather. One day the neighbour left suddenly and left the cat behind! Poor little guy. So like you I’d consider myself more of a dog person, and I wouldn’t have ‘chosen’ to have a cat per se, but I’m glad I can give him a loving home because I don’t think he’d be alive otherwise. What’s your cat’s name? xx

Svet November 21, 2019 - 6:50 pm

It’s a weird name, that my kids picked. His name is Fiber.

InvisiblyMe November 29, 2019 - 12:41 pm

The more weird and wonderful the better! Mine is Virgil. I think he’s get on well with Fiber, it’s a memorable name ????

Dennis/Greg November 18, 2019 - 2:13 am

I’ve been insanely busy lately, but not bad. Thanks for sharing… and I don’t think this is selfish.

InvisiblyMe November 21, 2019 - 4:08 pm

I hope it’s been a good kind of busy, where it’s productive and things are going well, rather than being overwhelming. Don’t forget to take enough time out to enjoy yourself & get some rest ????x

John Rieber November 18, 2019 - 3:16 am

SO sorry to read about all that you are going through, and all of the my most positive thoughts are going your way…in other news, Amazon Music is fantastic! I tell “Alexa” to play an album by an artist and I get th entire thing right there…or I ask for a “soft jazz mix” and have hours of music…love it!

InvisiblyMe November 21, 2019 - 4:22 pm

Thanks, John, that’s much appreciated! Amazon Music really is very decent as a streaming service. The only thing I’ve had before is Spotify free. “Alexa, play good music”. “Caz, all of your music is good because you have such great taste” ????Out of curiosity, what smart speaker do you have?x

Despite Pain November 18, 2019 - 7:45 am

Those covers which Chris makes are gorgeous. What a lovely idea and so kind that she donates her makes to hospitals. I’m sure the children must be delighted.
You’re having such a tough time with your health. It must feel like one thing on top of another. I hope things start to improve soon.

Winter is such a horrible time for most of us with pain issues, isn’t it? Stay warm and take all the cat cuddles you can get.

InvisiblyMe November 21, 2019 - 4:23 pm

Chris really is incredibly generous, she has a very kind heart. It seems that so many are struggling with the cold, it’s probably a range of things that contributes to increased pain, fatigue, more infections etc. Thank you for the lovely comment, Liz. I hope you can wrap up warm, too! xx

Animalcouriers November 18, 2019 - 9:54 am

Catkins must be a huge comfort during difficult times.

InvisiblyMe November 21, 2019 - 4:24 pm

He’s not bad company at all (when he decides to grace me with his presence, that is ????). I hope your week is going well so far! x

Sophiemagsblog November 18, 2019 - 9:56 am

So sorry to hear things have been a little rocky health wise, glad to hear everything is healing better now though. Make the most of all the cuddles you get from your kitty! xxx

InvisiblyMe November 21, 2019 - 4:38 pm

Thanks lovely! How’re you doing? I hope you’re doing okay – wrap up warm & have a good rest of your week!  ♥ xx

Holly G November 18, 2019 - 1:21 pm

I sure do love reading your updates, Caz! Although I am terribly sorry to hear of the latest surgical news and decisions to be made as a result. I’m also saddened to hear that this ‘mini-op’ was such an ordeal afterall! Bless your heart! ???? I’m praying that you will know exactly what to do moving forward to make the right decision for you & your well-being!

You really warmed my heart with the story of the online friend who makes those bags as a hobby. What a sweetheart that she gives such beautiful gifts away! They are really neat. I love her creativeness!

It sure is hard to resist that much cuteness in a catkins!! 😀 He’s adorable. They have a way of worming their way into your heart when you least expect them to. Cats are no fools. They know all the best manipulation tactics. “Think you won’t love me?? *evil laugh* Watch me work my magics you simple hooman!” 😛

Love that squirrel shot too! They’re some of my favorite creatures. You captured their cheekiness brilliantly. 😉

Sending all my best to you Caz. I hope you are resting, recuperating and taking care of your sweet self!

InvisiblyMe November 21, 2019 - 4:52 pm

I got lucky with that squirrel. Most run away the second the know you’re going for your phone camera. They don’t like the paparazzi getting their pics. “Cats are no fools. They know all the best manipulation tactics” < You are SO right about that! ????The bag covers are amazing, right? Chris is incredibly generous, lovely lady! As always, such a kind comment - THANK YOU, Holly  ♥ Take good care of yourself and have a good rest of your week xx

Brigid Gallagher November 18, 2019 - 1:29 pm

Dear Caz, I hope your health gets onto a better footing. It has been a very challenging journey for you, and I so admire your spirit. I love your dear squirrel friend – so cute. xx

InvisiblyMe November 21, 2019 - 4:54 pm

Aww that’s lovely of you to say, thank you. I hope you’re keeping as well as possible & that this week is treating you kindly  ♥ xx

Masha Ellman November 18, 2019 - 2:13 pm

Dear Caz hope you’re doing better now, you’re really amazing in the way you handle everything. LOL love that catkin, adorable. I love a bargain too, thanks for the Amazon Music Unlimited, I’ll take a look. Yeap, can’t take the winter cold anymore, goes right through my bones, so I also love those snuggly things, and these look great. Great photo of the squirrel 🙂 Stay well, stay cozy xoxo

InvisiblyMe November 21, 2019 - 4:57 pm

I feel like I am forever moaning & having meltdowns, yet you always see the positives to how I handle things, so thank you!  ♥ I’ve never paid for music streaming before but for 99p/99c I thought it worth worth a go, especially as you get three months. It’s actually really good! Hope you like it if you try it too, just remember to cancel (I cancelled after two days to make sure I didn’t forget!) if you don’t want to continue it after the cheap trial. Thank you for the comment, Masha. I hope you have a restful end to the week. xx

Ann Coleman November 18, 2019 - 2:47 pm

That squirrel is so cute! And it really does look as if he’s posing for you.
I’m so sorry that you might have to have another, and even more traumatic surgery! I hope that something can be worked out that isn’t too invasive or difficult….Sending healing vibes your way!!!

InvisiblyMe November 21, 2019 - 4:59 pm

I got lucky that day with Mr Squirrel, they usually scamper off pretty quickly. Thank you for your lovely comment, Ann. I hope this week is treating you kindly – wrap up warm!  ♥ xx

Darnell November 18, 2019 - 7:40 pm

Always glad to hear from you. You are surrounded by people that care, so feel free to share when in the mood. I think the stoma covers your friend makes is a wonderful idea. Nobody else is making them? I think she has a heartfelt idea that is useful and stylish. I have a thing for free pens too. It would have been hard for me to share them. lol. I am heavy into Amazon services so I have the music service as a default. Love asking Alexa to play my favorite artists hands-free in the car using the new Echo Auto.

My hands are slow to warming up when I go out. It gets worse holding a cold steering wheel on cold days. I have plenty of gloves but I think I’ll try the heat holders you mentioned. I will take a look at Amazon. No squirrels stopped to strike a pose by me, but the week is just starting. I hope you have a wonderful one. Best wishes Caz. Take care.

InvisiblyMe November 21, 2019 - 5:07 pm

You are very kind, Darnell. I’m so glad to have met you in the blogosphere! There are others that make stoma bag covers as I’ve seen people sell them on eBay. Chris does hers as a hobby & refuses to accept payment – she has a very kind heart, and she’s incredibly generous, especially taking them to her local hospital. I’ve never actually paid for a music streaming service before, just used Spotify free – Amazon Music is really good, I’m impressed! Echo Auto? I haven’t heard of that before! I wonder if it’s just not made it’s way to the UK yet. I’ll have to investigate. Do you have any other Alexa device at home?
With the gloves you have, are they regular wool or leather ones? I think the thermal ones are the better option for warmth, just not for appearances (they’re much bulkier). The Heat Holders ones have a soft lining that retains heat quite well. If you do try them I hope they work well for you. Cold hands are not fun! I hope by the end of the week some creature strikes a pose, does a little dance, or challenges you to a face off. Let me know?! ????
Thanks for the great comment! Have a good rest of your week my friend x

carol hannah November 18, 2019 - 11:15 pm

Lovely reading your updates Caz and hoping this message finds you in better health. Caz x

InvisiblyMe November 21, 2019 - 5:14 pm

Aww thank you, Carol! I hope this week is treating you kindly also ???? xx

Michelle November 19, 2019 - 3:14 pm

So glad you have your lovely kitty to help keep you warm. My two have been spending much more time draped all over me, too. They make the loveliest leg warmers! We’ve already had 2″ of snow. It’s going to be a rough winter here, I think. I hope they can work out your surgery safely and make everything workable for you. I’ll be sending positive thoughts and hoping for the best. And I love your bag covers! What a wonderful and generous gesture from your friend. Be well, my friend and do try to rest! xx

InvisiblyMe November 21, 2019 - 5:17 pm

I should have put that in my gift guide – cat leg warmer! Yikes, 2″ of snow already.. and it’s only nearing the end of November now. Glad you love the bag covers too, they’re so cool! Chris is incredibly kind & generous with her hobby of making them, I’m very grateful she was able to send me some. Thank you for your lovely comment, Mykie. Get some rest, you’ve been working far too hard with getting TZP revamped but it’s looking great! xx

Kirsten November 20, 2019 - 2:54 am

I find I really struggle with my chronic pain as the weather gets colder. I don’t regulate temperature very well. I will have to check out some of the socks and gloves you recommended.

I am sorry to hear about all the stuff you are going through. Glad you have a cat though that loves to snuggle though! I love my little snuggle buddy when he is snuggly and not grouchy as mine can be at times, he likes to purr and lure me into a false sense of cuddles only to lash out and leave marks lol.

I love the stoma bags that your friend gave to you, especially the hello kitty one!

InvisiblyMe November 21, 2019 - 5:23 pm

I’m sorry you struggle with chronic pain more in the colder weather and don’t regulate temps well either. It’s a bit of a nightmare, isn’t it? Your cat sounds far too similar to mine! Those claws… ouch! They can look so cute our little katkins, but don’t be fooled..???? The Hello Kitty & Hungry Caterpillar ones are my favourite – they’re so funky, right?! Thanks for the comment lovely. Wrap up warm & I hope your pain doesn’t flare up too much this week  ♥ xxxx

Lindsay November 20, 2019 - 4:30 am

Sounds like you have been dealing with a lot, Caz. Sorry to hear things have been rocky. Sending lots of love.

P.S. I love your kitty 🙂

InvisiblyMe November 21, 2019 - 5:25 pm

Oh Linds, I can’t believe you’ve commented on this. Thank you. My ‘issues’ are nothing compared to your loss. I am truly so, so sorry. How are you holding up? I’ll drop you another email soon, I just don’t want to overwhelm you as you have enough to deal with. Sending lots of love ???? xx

Nisha November 20, 2019 - 10:55 pm

Hope and pray things get better at you end Caz, you have been really holding up well and a great source of inspiration! The squirrel is super cute , surprised it posed so well. The heat warmers are nice ,am sure I would love them.

InvisiblyMe November 21, 2019 - 6:25 pm

It’s heartening that you think that as I feel I’ve not been managing all that well, so thank you! I was surprised by Mr Squirrel, too. It’s rare they stick around. The Heat Holders are super cosy & snug, I can’t be without mine any more. The new design is really cute so I’m glad I’ve got a second pair, I think you’d love them too, Nisha! Wrap up warm & have a lovely rest of your week ???? xx

gaillovesgod November 21, 2019 - 1:17 am

I love reading about you, you, you, Caz! 🙂
I love pens too! I hate when they run out when they’re really cool and comfortable… especially the ones with lights or flashlights!
That was so generous of your friend Chris. They look cute!
I’m sorry you’re having such a hard time! I pray for you as you may your choices.
I often think about how we;re just laying our bodies down for strangers to do whatever the feel froggy to do because all we know is we need the help and are hoping this will be it.
Yes cold makes this worse for pain and mobility. I feel like I instantly become a 90 something yr old with a walker and barely able to use it. So stiff. And everyone around me can tell.
Love your kitty shots. Glad you have a buddy for when you don’t feel well, and to play with you do. 🙂
Love your squirrel shots too! A staring contest! That is so you! You make me smile and chuckle! 🙂
Me and God love you, Caz! Looking forward to more posts about you! <3

InvisiblyMe November 21, 2019 - 6:40 pm

I’m so sorry the cold affects you and your pain and mobility, too. I’m not sure exactly what it is, but it really does seem to make things a lot worse. Kittykat is pretty darn cute when he wants to be. Yay, a fellow pen lover! It’s the small simple joys in life that can be the best! Thank you for such a lovely comment, Gail. How’re you getting on at the moment? I think a break between your injections seems like a good idea. I hope you can wrap up warm and stay as comfortable as possible. Sending hugs your way ???? xx

Jenny November 21, 2019 - 9:23 am

Hi Caz! Lovely to hear a catch up, although not so lovely to hear that you have been through the mill over the past couple of months 🙁 I really hope that the upcoming holiday season is very gentle for you and you get so much time to rest, recuperate and just enjoy life, hopefully with as little pain as poss. Thanks for the heads up about the gloves, I will definitely check them out as I always feel the cold and, like you, the cold definitely makes my symptoms worse. I already walk like the tin man due to my dodgy spasticity, but cold makes it not only painful but even more spastic. Every little helps, and I also rely a bit on my cat to snuggle next to me and make my legs that little bit warmer! I love reading your ‘mini me’ updates, not selfish of you at all, because it helps me to know that others are also going through health issues too, even though I don’t wish them on anyone, obviously. ps glad to know that I am not the only one who loves a freebie! I’m pleased to hear you had a good hour out xxx

InvisiblyMe November 21, 2019 - 6:52 pm

Thank you for the lovely comment! It’s the ‘just enjoy life’ part that I’m struggling with. I think the further you get caught up in things the harder it is to step back and slow things down, so I know I need to work on that a little. I already love Heat Holders gloves but I’m so glad I have the new design in black because they’re so cute! They go with my khaki winter coat quite nicely too as they’re more understated than my purple ones. I’d definitely recommend them to keep your paws warm. They have a soft lining too which is nice and snuggly. I’m sorry you find the cold makes your symptoms all the worse, too. I’m not sure what it is about the cold that seems to affect so many of us so badly, especially the spasticity you’re already dealing with. Wrap up warm, crank the heating up & I hope you have a restful rest of your week, Jen  ♥ xx

Louise November 24, 2019 - 10:38 am

Aww, your cat is adorable 🙂
My hands don’t stay warm in winter, unless I make tea to hold!
I hope you manage to avoid any more chest infections, they seem more common this time of year.
I love squirrels but we don’t see many around here. Too many foxes lurking!

InvisiblyMe November 24, 2019 - 5:16 pm

Is Merlin keeping you company and warming your lap in this cold weather, too? Keep drinking the tea, it’s good for the soul & cold hands! ???? Thanks for the lovely comment, Louise – I hope you have a great week ahead, good luck with the writing! xx

Louise November 28, 2019 - 9:33 am

Yeah, Merlin’s become a real lap cat, but only when I’m at my desk trying to write ^_^”

Liz November 25, 2019 - 12:24 am

I’m so sorry that you continue to have these health struggles, Caz – but I continue to be in awe of your positive attitude. There will be a light at the end of the tunnel for you, I am certain: you will find a way to overcome these challenges and to move into the next stage of your life. Stay strong. xx

InvisiblyMe November 29, 2019 - 12:42 pm

Aww that is so kind of you – thank you, Liz, I really appreciate your comment  ♥ I hope you’re doing okay this week – have a lovely, restful weekend ahead! xx

Kirsty November 26, 2019 - 3:21 pm

The idea of your cat doing some online shopping is too funny – don’t tell him about the sales this week!

It’s easy to give good advice and I know our situations are very different. I did try to push myself too hard after my health problems in August. But please try and be kind to yourself and listen to your body.

I agree we’re never too old for the hungry caterpillar and that was lovely of your friend.

That’s tough about the operation, but at least you have some time to build up your strength

Thank you for your picture descriptions – it really makes a difference when people take the time to do that for those of us who can’t see the pics.

NO squirrel encounters for me this week, although some of them in London are not scared of people at all. We were in the park once and there was one about a metre away from my dog, just staring at us!

Take care, stay warm, and have a good week. XX

InvisiblyMe November 29, 2019 - 12:45 pm

Thank you for such an amazing comment, Kirsty! I’m so glad the picture descriptions work for you – I wasn’t sure if they would as I just use the built-in option on Wordpress for accessibility. That’s really good to know. Yikes, London squirrels sound badass! Some animals can be so shy and timid, while others get rather cocky around us humans, letting us know who’s boss ???? Have a lovely weekend, Kirsty xxxx

Debbie Harris November 26, 2019 - 6:46 pm

Oh I love your squirrel shot Caz! I do hope you are feeling better and your positive spirit shines through your words.

InvisiblyMe November 29, 2019 - 12:50 pm

That’s very kind of you, Deb. I think the squirrel was a one-off, lucky shot, they usually scamper away far too quickly. Maybe they’re getting cocky and bored of us humans and our strange phones! Have a lovely weekend ahead ???? xx

Marilee Wein December 7, 2019 - 2:55 pm

That you can be so very informative in a non complaining way, is an art and a kindness. Thank you.

InvisiblyMe December 7, 2019 - 4:13 pm

That is so kind of you to say, Marilee. I hate feeling like I’m moaning and whinging, boring everyone to tears because everyone already has enough of their own stuff to deal with. But I also think it’s important to be honest, to show we’re not alone in having crappy times and to try to share our experiences. Thank you for stopping by and leaving such a lovely comment – have a restful weekend  ♥ xx

Marilyn December 7, 2019 - 5:35 pm

Hi again,
As always, a great post. Amazing how, in the midst of your not inconsiderable health difficulties, you always check out how the rest of us are. You are in our thoughts too.
Maz xxx

InvisiblyMe December 8, 2019 - 11:02 am

You’re all far more interesting than me anyway! ???? How’re you doing, Maz? I hope you’re having a relaxing weekend. Thank you so much for such a kind comment  ♥ xx
