Another Chronic Birthday
Time seems to go very quickly, too. I’ve blinked and missed another year because somehow it’s another Birthday! I’m not mentioning my age and anyone who does will be shot on the spot 😂
Each year since my health went down the toilet it seems to get a little harder to resist doing my best Victor Meldrew impression during the run-up to my birthday. I’m not doing anything to celebrate but I did drive my mum and myself to Worcester for a bite to each and a little mooch, which was intensely painful physically but a lovely afternoon nonetheless.
I got myself a chocolate cake and made my wish. Sadly I don’t think the canine guardian angel is going to deposit a golden retriever on my doorstep despite asking every year for a good while now. Even so, I’m taking a moment right now to appreciate the goodness, the friends I’ve got here online, my mum, good cups of tea, even my adorable asshole of a cat.

I’m all too aware that I sound like a broken record, but I’m afraid I’m so far behind on everything that I’ve not been able to put together a proper post right now. A combination of being too busy while being too unwell makes for a perpetual cycle of uber exhaustion and frustration, and I feel like I’m suffocating.
Thank you for being here and I’m sorry I’m behind on just about everything, so if I’ve not got to your blog or sent an email, please know I do care and it’s truly nothing personal. And I’m hoping I can get back to more frequent blog posts soon, so do let me know if there’s any particular content you’d like to see.

Happy birthday Caz! I keep trying to make that golden retriever appear on your doorstep, but so far, I’m afraid I’ve failed…. I’m glad you and your Mum were able to get out for a little while and enjoy each other’s company. Take good care of yourself sweet friend, and don’t worry about all the blogging stuff – we’ll be here when you feel up to dealing with it. In the meantime, just know you have lots of people here who care about you. Sending lots of love and hugs your way!

Happy Birthday. We did make a chocolate cake at the weekend, because my granddaughter always makes one when they come to stay. I only got one piece. Love the dog video.

Thank you very much for your kind comment, Nancy 💙 I’m sorry you can’t eat real cake. I must admit I’m not a big fan of sponge at all, but I love the chocolate fondant and icing etc. Are you able to eat chocolate, or is that a no-go? I think for today I’ll be grateful I can eat chocolate, not sure what I’d do if I couldn’t! I’d happily pay everything I’ve got for a dog, but the problem is more one of practicality. It’s strange at my age to say I’m “not allowed” one but that’s the case. Maybe one day that will change. Glad you liked the video – it’s brilliant, isn’t it? 😁 xx

Hi Caz, What’s up? Did you have your surgery and I missed it? I read your post about the vile comments you received, just another troll with nothing to do but try to bring people down. Tell them to fuck off. Your blog is even balanced and we with chronic illnesses can have a life, no matter how small or big, it’s our life, and we don’t have room for negative energy.

Happy Birthday Caz!!! (I’m not saying “belated birthday” because my grandma always felt the birthday celebration should stretch to at least a month :D.) Having a slice of the delicious cake you’ve describe in honor of you and sharing in your birthday situation has now become my #1 goal/priority for the day! Thanks for being born and, as a result, making the day I read this post more celebratory AND more delicious. Also, when I saw your featured image all I could think was….WHY DOESN’T EVERY CAKE HAVE A UNICORN ON TOP OF IT?!!? All those wasted cakes! They all could’ve featured majestic and magical unicorns!
