Hey everyone,
How are you? I’ve missed you! But I’ll be honest… I haven’t missed the British weather, which greeted me with grey skies, rain and cold on Friday afternoon.
I spent yesterday sorting out a few things, grocery shopping and making my way through hundreds of emails, and I still haven’t fully unpacked my suitcase yet. Part of me wonders whether I should leave it as it is and get the next flight back. I wish! Yesterday was also quite difficult for me as I was in a lot of pain; my body struggled over the week, but not as much as it could have, though I paid the price when I got home. My joints, muscles, hips, everything hurt. A bucket load. But it was worth it.
Thankfully I didn’t have many problems with the stoma while I was away apart from on the second night which was perhaps due to a mixture of dehydration and cucumber slices at dinner – hadn’t had them since before the ileostomy and I couldn’t resist – but luckily that was pretty much it. I worried no end about possible leaks but they didn’t happen, though I was changing my bag twice most days.
I’ll post more soon and pop up a few pics in case you want to see as that’s more exciting than having me write all about it, especially as I could write for hours about the beaches, the amazing staff at the hotel and the glorious weather for someone like me who struggles with being cold all of the time usually.
In the mean time, I hope you are all doing okay. I’m sorry for being quiet this week but I’ll catch up with reading posts and emails over the next couple of days. Hope you all have a relaxing weekend…
Caz ♥

Hi Jen, glad you managed to get away and enjoy yourself. I realky struggle with holidays as I’m just too nervous – I seem to spend my life worrying about all the things that could go wrong which is such a waste. Travel insurance Is a minefield – any tips on that?
What part of Spain did you go to, so grey here today very depressing!
Hey, not to worry about the name mix-up! Yes, I worried and stressed no end and I hope that in future I can learn from that because it really doesn’t help any. Insurance was a nightmare for me too as I was trying to look at what was covered with regards to pre-existing health conditions and a stoma. I went with YourTravelCover, which I spotted through Comparethemarket I think; just make sure you list anything and everything, and when reading the small print look for things like whether transport delays are covered and anything you would be particularly concerned about. An EHIC for EU destinations is useful but it only covers basic care as far as I’m aware. I paid around £20 for mine and wouldn’t pay more than that to be honest.
I went to Salou – such a beautiful area, and while there was plenty going on it didn’t feel too busy nor was it filled with drunks in the streets! 🙂
Jen??? I’m losing the plot, sorry Caz x
I’m so glad you had such a lovely time Caz and yes please, Id love to see all your lovely photos! Hope you can rest up a bit over the next couple of days too xx
Thank you, Nat! 🙂
I hope you’re doing okay too and have had a relaxing weekend. xx
Gorgeous pic, and fab that you had such a lovely holiday. My Mum has had her ileostomy reversed now but she worried constantly about leaks and it really did stop her doing things, it’s great to see you didn’t let it stop you 🙂
Thank you, Clare 🙂 It’s definitely hard dealing with a stoma for me especially the mental side of things with worrying about leaks, what to eat, and even what others would think, but I’m glad I at least managed to challenge myself a little. I’m sorry it stopped your mum when she had one, I can empathise. How’s she getting on now since the reversal?
