Happy Friday! Has it been a long week for you, too? Well, the weekend is upon us and I thought I’d round up just a couple of quick Frugal Friday goodies. Enjoy 🙂
Free First Aid Guide (UK post & worldwide online resources)
The amazing guys over at St John Ambulance are giving away a pocket-sized first aid guide for UK residents. I think first aid is often something you think you probably won’t need, yet knowing some basics could come in incredibly handy, maybe even be life-saving. You can request a copy by post (1 per request). If you’re outside of the UK, they also have lots of online resources and a mobile app too for you to check out. **Offer ended**
Cool Converse
Spent money I don’t have again, oops! I replaced another loved-to-death pair with these gorgeous Converse booties (cost me £22.49) in their sale ????Good time to buy & keep them in if you’re like me & refuse to pay full price for anything these days. There’s an extra 25% off sale items applied at checkout for a limited time & free delivery over £25!
Google Digital Garage – Free Courses
Free courses are being offered by Google as part of their Digital Garage scheme. There are various topics to explore, including within data & tech, digital marketing, and career development. Each course lists the estimated time of study required, how many modules there are, and what’s involved (such as video tutorials & recognised certification). These are a great way to learn something new, brush up on your skills, perk up your CV or just keep your mind engaged. You can find them here.
Free Toilet Hunting
I came across this recently and thought it was a pretty cool, and incredibly useful, idea. The Great British Public Toilet Map. It is exactly what it says it is. A map of public toilets within the UK. Obviously it won’t capture everything, but it’s a great pointer if you’re planning a trip or worrying about what facilities are available nearby. You can check it out here.
Free Optical Express Eye Test
Another freebie for the UK lot, so if you’re in need of an eye test but don’t want to fork out for it or aren’t entitled to a free test, you might want to check this out at Optical Express. I’m not affiliate with this in any way & can’t say how good or not Optical Express are because I’m not sure if I’ve ever been, but I’d certainly consider them if they have this freebie going in March when I’m due. Fill in the form and book your test, and you’ll also get 10% off glasses (over £100) and a free second pair if you need them. You can find out more here.
I hope everyone has a restful weekend, whatever you’re up to!

I love Frugal Fridays! I wonder why I keep losing you on Wordpress? Oh, this isn’t Wordpress! OK, Caz… I will try to keep up on FB! You find the coolest stuff!
Are you not seeing posts on the WP reader? Someone else was having problems leaving a comment too. I’m sorry if you’re having any hassle with it, Kim. Some of this technical jazz is a little beyond me when it goes wrong. Send help! And cookies! xx
Another fantastic issue of Frugal Friday Caz! I love your new Converse! My son absolutely loves his Converse sneakers. He says they’re always the most comfortable pair of shoes he owns.
That toilet hunting app falls under another one of those ideas I had that someone else acted on. ???? I told my Pop at one time that we should develop some kind of app to let people know where public toilets were located all along popular travel routes because we were always stopping somewhere looking for a toilet when we traveled. Next time I have a great idea, I guess I’d better get off my butt and act on it. ????
I hope you have a wonderful, relaxing weekend!
They are very comfy, I can see why your son loves ’em too! Aw, you should have patented that idea for the toilet map when it first popped into your head, it’s a brilliant one. Next awesome idea you have, get straight on it 😉
Thanks Terri – I hope you have a lovely week ahead xx
I love the potty app. That would come in handy while you’re out and about.
Have a fabulous day and weekend. ♥
Potty app, that sounds better than toilet app! Thanks Sandee, have a good week ahead =]
xx
A toilet map is the best idea ever!!!
I thought it was pretty ingenious, too! x
Nice list! I need a USA potty finder. I didn’t know google is offering free classes-nice!
Freebies are awesome, and I think it’s that bit more credible & trustworthy coming from Google. I wonder if there’s a toilet map fro the US… I couldn’t see one on Google but there’s something somewhat similar in Australia. If it hasn’t been done yet, then it should be! 🙂
xx
Great list, Caz.. I would have loved the potty map on my visits to the UK. I’ll check it out. 🙂
Must be a sign of the time! I, too, find I resist paying full price for almost everything these days. Probably because, if one looks for it, the cheaper price can be found – somewhere; and, generally worth the effort… 🙂
The map certainly could be handy! I resist paying full price for the vast majority of things, too, you’re not alone there. Definitely agree that it’s worth the effort shopping around or finding discounts to save the pennies. Thanks Carolyn – Have a lovely week 🙂

What a great collection of useful sites!
Cheers, John! Have a good week =]
Great post. The toilet map is fantastic.
I thought it was quite a good idea too, mappable toilets, genius who developed that idea! Thanks – I hope the week ahead is kind to you =]
you always manage to come up with the most interesting tips – thank you 🙂
Aw thank you lovely! Have a good week ahead =]
xx
I’ve not seen this series of posts before – I love it! I shall definitely be looking out for your future posts! There’s an app similar to the Publis Toilet Map, called Flush. It’s very handy.
Aw I’m glad you like it – I don’t do it on a regular basis, so perhaps I should schedule Frugal Fridays more often. Thanks very much for the comment & for sharing about the app. I hadn’t come across that one before but I’ve looked it up and it’s free for iOS which is brilliant! x
Very good:)
Thanks, Kinga. Have a good week! 🙂
Love the toilet list, Caz!! I jumped for joy when I saw the Converse link as Lucy desperately wants a pair, but I can’t get the link to work….which site do I need to go to? Claire x
I’m sorry I’ve only just spotted this! Not sure why the link isn’t working, but it may be because the extra discount has finished. They still have a sale on here http://tidd.ly/50882477 – I’ve left you a message on your blog’s FB page as you might want to check Debenhams & Schuh too incase they have any cheap-ish ones in their sales for Lucy 🙂
xx
Great post Caz, love the idea of the free courses 🙂 xx
Free courses are fab, I love ’em! Thanks Jen – I hope this is a good week for you (IV-free, hurrah!) xx
Very thoughtful giving out first aide instructions. First aide is soemthing we don’t think or talk about, until we need it.
Yes, very true. And then we often think someone else will know it, but it really could pay to know a little ourselves ‘just in case’. Thanks for the comment =]
Thank you Caz. That’s really kind of you to share these. I love the graphic with the public toilets finder app! Just sums it up nicely. Anita.
I found that on Pixabay & really liked it too! Thanks, Anita – I hope you have a lovely weekend ahead 🙂

Frugal Fridays are The Best! ♥️
Aw I’m glad you like them! I’ll have to do another one soon, maybe this Friday 😉
Have a great week, Nika.xx
