The amazing team at Levoit kindly sent me their LV-H132 air purifier to use to see if it could help my health. I was so excited to get this and unbox it ready to test out, and now that I’ve been using it for just over a week, I’m thrilled to share it with you!
What Does An Air Purifier Do?
There are more pollutants in our indoor air than you may imagine, and these can aggravate health conditions, breathing problems, asthma, and allergies, as well as negatively impact your sleep. An air purifier tackles the bacteria and airborne particles, essentially filtering the air so that you’re breathing cleaner, healthier oxygen.
The Levoit H-132 air purifier targets the likes of :
- Dust
- Pollen
- Smoke
- Mold
- Household smells (cooking, pets, etc)
- Pollution
- Pet dander
- Cleaning chemicals
- Bacteria
Air Purifier Unboxing
This was shipped from Amazon. The product inside was very well packed with Styrofoam and cardboard inserts to ensure it wasn’t damaged during transit. It’s available at both Amazon UK and Amazon US.
Inside the box you will find :
- The air purifier device
- The Three-stage Filtration filter
- User manual
- Power cable (I am in the UK and mine came with a UK 3-pin mains power cable)
Air Purifier Set Up
Getting this bad boy set up was, thankfully, very quick and straightforward. The user guide is well laid-out with text and images that are easily understandable, available in multiple languages. Once you’ve removed the purifier from the packaging, simply turn it upside down and remove the base, where you’ll find a new filter. Taking the filter out, you can remove the plastic wrapper and reinsert it, with the filter facing the opening of the purifier. Put the base back on, put the adapter into the unit and the plug into a wall socket. Voila, all done!
Looking Good!
It measures approx 21.6 x 21.6 x 36.8 cm, weighing in at 3kg. It’s bigger than you may initially expect, and yet I found it felt smaller and blended in far better than anticipated when I put it on my bedside table. It’s sleek, shiny white and looks ultra smart, giving it a contemporary vibe that I could see easily becoming a feature of any room. The blue light as part of the nightlight function gives a lovely vibrant glow should you wish to use this at bedtime.
Overall, I’m very happy with how it looks and feels, being both sturdy and fantastic quality while retaining a distinctly modern appeal.

The Claims & How It Works
Levoit state a research study that suggests our home environment can contain 2 to 5 times, or even up to 100 times, more pollution than outdoor air. These airborne particles and bacteria in the home can cause and contribute to various health problems, affecting breathing, allergies, and even sleep.
The True HEPA filter takes on the task of filtering and trapping particles, such as dust mites, pollen and bacteria. It’s capable of filtering even tiny particles that are 0.3 microns, as well as larger particles are air pollution (PM 2.5 – the pollution rate), which makes it great for those with health conditions and allergies.
The activated carbon filter neutralises odours, such as those from pet smells, smoke and cooking, to keep your home smelling and feeling fresh. It does all of this without creating any Ozone / pollutants as there’s no ion generator or UV-C light used.
It’s recommended that filters be replaced every 6 months, which seems pretty reasonable considering the muck they’re filtering. These can be found easily enough online, such as at Amazon.
Although this purifier is ideal for those with illnesses, respiratory problems and allergies, it’s not restricted to being beneficial for those who need cleaner air. It’s not just for the elderly or for children or for those who want to rid the home of odours, either. It’s for anyone and everyone because clean air will benefit us all.
How To Use The Air Purifier
This is designed for smaller rooms because, as you can anticipate, air is a big thing to filter! You need somewhere to plug this in and to stand it on a solid surface where there’s 38cm of space around it to allow for the device to safely and adequately work. The longer cable is really helpful here. In terms of how often and for how long you have it turned on, I think this is up to you and what works best for your needs. If you struggle at night, maybe you want it on for a few hours before bed, or maybe turn it on overnight at a lower fan speed. If you use the room a lot in the daytime, maybe have it on during the day at a higher fan speed.
As you can see on the top of the device, from left to right, there’s an on/off button, nightlight, an icon that will light up when the filter needs to be chanced, an a button to select fan speed (1-3). These are touch buttons, and it makes using them that bit easier as only slight pressure is required to activate them. It also means the purifier is easier to wipe down with a microfibre cloth to keep it clean and shiny.
My Experience
I found this very simple to get set-up, with clear instructions in the supplied leaflet. Once I found a suitable place to put it in my bedroom, it was just a case of plugging it in and touching a button to let it work its magic. In terms of looks, I was really impressed; it looks very contemporary and sophisticated in its shiny white housing and the touchscreen style buttons give it a high-tech, high quality feel. Being white, it fits in well to any decor and helps brighten my room without feeling imposing or clunky. Plus, when it comes to air purifying, you could say the bigger the better because it will filter more air. While this is perfect for smaller spaces, like a bedroom or office, many people will find great results in a larger room like an open kitchen or lounge.
Using this is straightforward and I love the small beeps when you turn it on and adjust settings, along with the lights on the top so you can see exactly what you’re doing. The nightlight is a lovely touch; you can have a gentle blue light as you sleep, choose to dim this down, or to turn off all lights entirely, depending on your preference if you use it at night.
I think I’m sceptical by nature, so while I’d hoped for good things in terms of functionality, I wasn’t 100% convinced at how this could help my health. The proof is in the pudding, as they say, so you have to try it to see for yourself how it works. After a week or so of use, my edge of scepticism has been worn away, and I have been pleasantly surprised at just how good this is.
My reasons for use : My health isn’t the best as it is, from undifferentiated connective tissue disease and a stoma, to various deficiencies and fibromyalgia, and few other things in between. I’ve also had issues with breathing since recurrent chest infections last year, which have been labelled as ‘suspected adult asthma and/or allergy undefined’ for the time being. My sleeping is atrocious. I’m exhausted. There’s no smoke inside the house but there is a cat (as sweet as he may look for photos, his hair everywhere is not so pretty), cooking smells due to an open plan downstairs arrangement, and open windows (allowing in nasties such as pollen and traffic fumes from the road directly outside). Of course, you needn’t have specific reasons and health concerns to use an air purifier and reap the benefits; simply having clean air to breathe is important for everyone!
I’ve found that this does get rid of cooking & cat smells quite well, which is much preferred to using an aerosol room spray. If I put this on, leave the room and come back, I can notice the difference because the room feels fresher. I’ve used this in the day, before bed, and during the night to try to maximise the benefits, and I’ve repeated the process numerous times to ensure the results are the same, which they are.
I do feel the air is cleaner, and I think my body has noticed, too. I’ve managed a little more sleep than I have in a while, and I haven’t felt as stuffy or congested when I’ve woken. My breathing hasn’t been as awful, either, deduced from the fact I’ve not been using the reliever inhaler as often during the night when I’ve woken up (as a result of lying down, I tend to end up coughing more). My room generally feels more pleasant and fresh.
In terms of noise, the fan does make some and that can’t be helped. That said, I use this on the fan speed setting 1 or 2 at nighttime and it’s like a gentle hum that I don’t find it at all disturbing. I actually find it quite reassuring & relaxing.
Cost & Customer Service
The brand have been incredibly responsive in my dealings with them so I have to give their customer service 10/10 for being so friendly, helpful and efficient.
In terms of cost, this is a budget-friendly air purifier. At under $100 and around £100, it comes in far cheaper than many other alternatives and yet from other reviews, and my own experience, it’s clear it’s a high quality device that’s efficient and reliable, so I think it’s a very strong contender in the market. I’d say this is a worthwhile investment that should stand the test of time while proving to be a priceless piece of technology to benefit your home and your health.
Final Thoughts
I’m really impressed by this device & my experience thus far has been incredibly positive. It looks great, it’s easy to set up, and straightforward to use. It does what it claims to do with purifying the air effectively, leaving the air feeling cleaner & fresher to positively benefit health. This is definitely one worth trying for those with health conditions and basically anyone who wants fresher air to breathe. What’s more important than that? A thumbs up from me!

A big thank you to Levoit for the complimentary product so that I could use it & share it with you guys. There are lots of budget-friendly air purifiers on the market; this is my honest review and positive recommendation for the Levoit LV-H132 as being a reasonably priced, excellent quality option.

Thank you Caz. I looked at air purifiers in the past but they were rather pricy and bulky. I get shortness of breathe at times and use an unhaler so this sounds a good option.
I’m the same with breathing & inhalers (which don’t quite cut it) so that’s part of why I was so keen to try one of these out. It’s hard knowing where to start with looking for one which is why I’m glad I could share this as I really would recommend it; I’m thrilled with it, and it looks great while being effective! Definitely worth considering for your breathing & overall health, Brigid – let me know if you have any questions and I’ll try to help, just drop me an email! 🙂
Have a lovely week xx
Thanks for the recommendation. I have been thinking about purchasing one.
It’s definitely one I’d recommend, and given the style & price of others I’d say the Levoit one is much neater, sleeker & more budget-friendly. I’m really pleased with how effective it is so it’s certainly worth considering – let me know if you have any questions I might be able to help with as mine now takes pride of place on my bedside table 🙂
Nice recommendation. I have thought about getting something like this to help with my allergies.
Air purifiers are often recommended for those with allergies, so it’s certainly worth considering. I’m really glad I have this one as it’s surprisingly effective & I’m really pleased with it, so I’d recommend it if you are wanting to get one yourself. Do drop me an email if you have any questions on anything I’ve not covered in the review & I’ll try to help – if you do try this one I hope you love it as much as I do! Thanks for the comment, Cherie 🙂
WOW! This looks like a clever gadget, and it’s good to know it’s having a positive effect on your health. Great review, Caz! ????
Thanks, Paula! It’s a very nifty thing to have, so I’d highly recommend for anyone wanting cleaner, fresher air =]
Have a lovely week! x
You write great reviews, I find it difficult to explain why I find this air purifier so good ???? xx
It can be hard to put into words the effects of this, so I get where you’re coming from. It really is pretty fab though, isn’t it?! 🙂 Thanks, Elaine – have a lovely week.xx
This is probably the sleekest looking air purifier I’ve ever seen! It looks like a really awesome product – I honestly expected it to be much more expensive than it is!
xx Lauren
It is sleek, I was surprised too as I hadn’t expected a purifier to look quite so contemporary & swish! It’s very effective too so I’m really pleased with it – definitely gets a thumbs up from me, and price-wise it’s far more budget-friendly than other alternatives. Thanks for the comment, Lauren! 🙂
xx
This sounds great Caz. I’m really pleased that you are feeling the benefits.
Thanks, Suzanne – it really is quite an impressive unit, and hopefully this review will help others who want to consider getting a purifier! Have a lovely rest of the week 🙂
This was brilliant Caz! This really does seem like a great product and I really appreciate you sharing your thoughts on it!!
Thanks, I’m glad you liked it – I didn’t know anything about air purifiers until more recently so I’m really pleased I’ve found a brilliant one to share with everyone 🙂 Have a good week, Alyssa – rest up! xx
Informative and recommendations with details are really helpful.
I’m glad you found it informative, Reena. Hopefully this can help others who may want to get a purifier themselves as I’m really pleased with this one! Take care x
I was looking for how many cubic feet per hour it cleaned, and how long the filter lasts. Out house is up on stilts, and we get a good breeze most of the year, keeping the windows and doors open.
It looks like a cool unit!
I believe it’s 68m³/h. I think it would work well for most homes if you want it in, for instance, a bedroom or living room, whether the windows are open (to help filter outdoor pollution, pollen etc) or closed. It’s definitely an impressive unit & I’m very pleased with it! Thanks for the comment, Mark 🙂
I need one of these. Thanks for letting me know about this product.
Have a fabulous day. ♥
I think everyone would benefit from cleaner air – wish I knew about them sooner but I’m really pleased to have found such an effective, but more purse-friendly, one so I hope this review can help others who want to check it out. Definitely gets my positive recommendation – let me know if you do try it or drop me an email if you have any questions and I’ll try to help 🙂
Looks like a great buy. Thanks for sharing! 🙂
It’s certainly a great investment & I’m really pleased to have it in my room, it’s fab! Thanks for the comment, Richa – have a lovely rest of your week 🙂
I’m going to look into this for my nephew who has asthma, thanks for the detailed info ????
Asthma is one of the biggest reasons people seem to consider air purifiers (though now I know about them I’d say they’re a good idea for anyone and everyone) – if your nephew does get one I do hope it helps! Thanks for taking the time to comment and have a lovely rest of the week, Helen 🙂

I would never have thought to have used one of these to sort out pet smells – that’s really given me some food for thought actually! My husband and daughter both have pet and dust allergies so I wonder if it might help with that too.
It’s actually really good at refreshing the air & removing odours (which I much prefer to an aerosol spray as this can further impact breathing issues). They do recommend air purifiers for those with allergies, and although I wasn’t sure whether I had allergies, since using this my eyes have been less sore, less dry & I’ve felt less congested, so I’d say it’s definitely worth considering. Drop me an email if you have any questions & I’ll try to help in case you do decide to try one! Thanks for the comment – have a lovely rest of the week 🙂

Thank you for sharing! I will look into this. Asthma and hay fever at the moment, so I need something to help me breath!
I received two of these filters after a bout of bronchitis from my daughter. What a lovely gift!
I’m breathing easy with one in the living room and one in the bedroom.
Great product, very easy to set up.
That was a lovely idea for her to give you these! I’m glad you like the purifier, it’s fab and with something like bronchitis it can be immensely helpful. Thank you for taking the time to read & comment, Dale! 🙂
Loved reading this review from you, Caz. You always do such an amazing job showing how things work (or don’t). I’ve shared this on Twitter 🙂
I’m looking at it on Amazon now. Air purifiers make such a huge difference in the quality of our breathing. I believe in the impact a well-made one has. Stale smells, pet hair, and whatever is in the carpet – all of these things add up to a big problem in the long run.
Have a beautiful day Caz ♥
Aww I’m really glad you found this useful, and thank you for sharing! Some people think ‘just open the window’ but it’s not always that straight forward if you have issues with pollen, outdoor air and/or live by a road. Purifiers can be incredibly good for breathing & allergies and just in making our homes that bit cleaner, healthier and more comfortable. Thank you for the comment, Holly! I might have to repost this review soon 🙂
Great review, Caz! Exactly what I was looking for, so I went ahead and ordered it through your link. I’m really hoping this will help me get better control of my MCAS so it doesn’t wallop me so badly come springtime. Thanks for sharing your experiences and saving me a little money. I’ve been drooling over a much more expensive purifier, but I think this one will do nicely. I hope you’re doing well. Xx
Aww that’s fab, it’s a great purifier so I do hope it can help you, even if a little. In terms of price, this seems to tick all the boxes at a more reasonable cost so I don’t really know what the pricier units can offer beyond what this one does. I suppose the issue with any of them is the space they’re capable of filtering, as none can manage more than a room, you can’t purify a whole house with just one unit whether you spend $80 or $200. Thank for letting me know as the purchase didn’t track on my end so I wouldn’t have had a clue you’d got one otherwise 🙁 Hope you like it! xx
