Natural Ways To Find Peace & Tranquility In The Chaotic Modern World

Today I’m sharing a collaborative post that I thought would be timely given the chaos and uncertainty we’re living in. Always being connected, continually exposed to news and other media, and finding ourselves facing our own challenges can all become rather overwhelming. Here’s a look at how to ease the stress a little and find a slice of tranquility in the middle of the chaos.

It’s no secret that the world is a busier place than it used to be. Cities have gotten bigger, populations are soaring, and the digital world has connected the whole world as we know it. While this is all great for society’s development in many ways, it’s all too easy to feel overwhelmed when you’re caught in the middle of it all. This post will be exploring some of the best natural ways to find peace and tranquillity when you’re feeling the strain of living in today’s chaotic and constantly connected world.

Going Into Nature

While it may feel like you are somewhat disconnected from nature, humans are hard-wired to enjoy spending time in the great outdoors. Giving yourself a chance to have a break from the endless concrete found in your home city, simply going for a drive somewhere remote or getting out in the open can be a very good way to calm your mind. Beaches, wooded areas and open fields can all bring a lot of peace into your heart. It’s worth getting as far away from distractions as you can, and some places can enable you to go for hours without seeing another person.

If you have a garden, simply spending some time out there in the fresh air and taking in the simple pleasures of the growing grass and flowers can be grounding, calming and refreshing. Many find exercise a good stress reliever; not everyone will be able to go for a run to clear their mind, but even stretches while you’re sat down or some gentle walking can help.

Trying Natural Treatments

There are a lot of chemicals on the market that promise to ease anxiety and make you feel better in day to day life. In reality, many don’t live up to the hype and they can sometimes cause unwelcome side-effects of their own. It’s worth considering the more natural options for stress-relief, though with any chemical or natural product it’s important to still read the instructions, to be mindful of possible side-effects, and speak with a medical professional to make sure it’s right for you, especially if you’re already taking other medications. CBD is one such alternative. What is CBD? CBD is an extract found in hemp that can be used to help as an additional tool with a range of different conditions, including stress, anxiety, and depression.

Talking To Someone

There are few things worse than feeling alone when you are stressed, but a lot of people live in this state worried that they can’t talk to those closest to them. There are a few possible options when it comes to support, and talking to people about the problems you have can ease a little of the stress and pressure. You can choose between talking a professional or talking to someone you care about, but both options can be beneficial, as long as you’re honest about the things that are making you feel anxious. As always, if you’re in need of professional support, speak to your doctor and seek the help you need.

Enjoy Simple Pleasures

Consider the smaller things that can bring a smile to your face. Take joy in the simple pleasures and make time for the hobbies and interests that can distract, calm or nourish you, whether that’s reading, watching films, yoga, drawing, painting or doing jigsaw puzzles. We’re all different and we have our own interests, but when stress and overwhelm kick in, these helpful past times and hobbies can often go by the wayside.

Being stressed is a common condition in the modern world. Money, work, and a host of other problems can make it all too easy to find yourself feeling like this, not to mention the addition of other mental health conditions like anxiety or depression. Of course, while it might be hard to escape stress when you’re living in a city in particular, there are plenty of natural options to help manage your stress. It’s always worth tackling something like this head-on, as it’s incredibly difficult to manage stress without actively working at it.

    Great ideas. I am doing a “self-improvement” course, for lack of a bette description. The first section is about being in the present and reducing time on social media. It tends to be very stressful. Going into nature is also taught early. Thanks for sharing these. – George

    These are all great ideas Caz. I especially love going to the beach. All the vacations I’ve taken are always at the beach. There is something about watching the ocean waves that just puts me in a calm state. I find it impossible to think about problems when doing that. Thank you for all your great advice. xx

    Enjoying the little things – I’ve been doing a lot of this lately: potting herbs with our grandchildren for my step-daughter included 🙂 It’s so relaxing and the rewards are fresh herbs every day to cook with 🙂

    Perfect timing. Everyone needs to find ways to cope with what’s going on in the world just now. I find nature helps me. Thankfully, I live in the countryside, so can open my door and just breathe in the air and look around me. It’s very calming.

    Such a great post! I’m so excited to get away for a long weekend at the beginning of July, and spend some time with my in-laws at their 12-acre farm. Getting into nature has always been a stress reliever for me!

    I absolutely love nature and the simple pleasures in life like reading and writing. Usually I don’t have the time and forget to enjoy the smaller things but this pandemic has given me plenty of time to reflect and learn from past mistakes. I have used the time to reconnect with myself and found so many things I love in the world, despite how terrible the last 6 months have been x

    Another timely post, Caz. I love it! I don’t know about you but the past couple of months have really been a lesson in remembering what’s important and pulling back from many things. We pile so much on ourselves in this go, go, go world that we forget our health matters in every way.

    Stress is a killer! It robs us of more than we realize sometimes. I think for us creative types especially, it can be particularly detrimental. Wouldn’t you say? I find that my thoughts and words feel jumbled, out of reach and coherent sentences seem to be on strike! 🤣 Plus the muscle spasms from tension, the constant worry from endless fears and the exhaustion from it all! (sigh)

    These tips really are many of my favorites. Walking, for me, is especially helpful. CBD helps sometimes but I’ve discovered that if my thought life is not on the ‘sunny side,’ it simply doesn’t work. Supplements that support the adrenals and thyroid have been particularly helpful for me too as they blunt the stress response (cortisol). We are all such individuals and finding what works for us can be tricky. It’s definitely not one-size-fits-all!
