Uncertain Times : A Coronavirus Reminder

There’s no denying that these are dark, unsettling and worrying times. The lockdown and self-isolation has resulted in most of us needing to adapt, to adjust our lifestyles and how we do things in one way or another.

For some it may be homeschooling and keeping the kids entertained. For others it may be working from home, or experiencing isolation in a way they never have before. Some may be out of work and income and needing to readjust finances. Maybe it’s getting in to new routines and habits for staying safe. Most of us are trying to reduce or stop leaving the home, necessitating the need to be more creative in using up what we do have in order to make it go further and last longer.

The situation now may be uncomfortable. Some may view it as an inconvenience, for others it may be a nightmare. But you can adapt. Humans are incredibly adaptable as a species and we’re well equipped to change our perspective and think things through to find alternative solutions or ways of coping.

But as with any change, it can take some getting used to. It’s a novel situation and none of us really know how to navigate this uncertain world right now. You can only do your best and each day things will get a little more manageable, a little more normal and you’ll hopefully start to get into the swing of things. That’s not going to take away the horror of the situation or how painfully sad things are, but it might make the ground you’re standing on feel a little firmer.

Reach out and connect with others online or on the phone. Limit your news intake each day if it’s getting overwhelming.

Do whatever you can to stay safe while not forgetting to prioritise self-care, which is so important right now.

There will be setbacks and challenges and struggles, but you can handle whatever comes your way.

Stay safe.

"This is a worrying, stressful and uncertain time. The situation is new to all of us. Don't worry if you're behind on your to-do lists or feel like you're not getting the hand of things. It's a temporary way of life for most of us. Go easy on yourself. You're doing the best you can". This quote is against a dark background with multicoloured clouds. The InvisiblyMe title is at the bottom.

PS. For those in the UK that feel they meet the criteria as being in the vulnerable / extremely group and are not able to get grocery deliveries, here’s the link for the government page to register. You send in your details, the government verifies your health status with your medical records, and they pass this information on to the online supermarkets. If you’re considered highly vulnerable, you’ll be given priority delivery (though this is no guarantee of delivery availability). If you’re struggling to get the help you need, please reach out or contact your local council.

What a brilliant post Caz! You’re so right – people are incredibly adaptable if they allow themselves to be. Sometimes we’re so disappointed that things aren’t going the way they’re ‘supposed to’ that we have a hard time making the adjustments we need to make initially. The sooner we realize we can adapt and start to ‘go with the flow’ the better off we are, I think. Hope you’re feeling better and are able to stay in. Sending love and hugs your way!

It’s like learning a new way of life for a bit. Eventually normality will resume. The more people follow guides, the quicker that will hope fully be.
Stay safe and take care Caz.

Each week we shop there are different rules. This week no personal bags allowed. They put your stuff back in the cart and you can load your bags at your car or they charge you for paper or plastic bags. It’s more germ free that way. I do love the pickup and delivery service they have though. Many can’t venture out of their homes.

Have a fabulous day, my friend. Stay well. ♥

This “new normal” will certainly take time to adapt to, especially with “sheltering in place” and a rising rate of infection…however, if we all work tighter, support each other and follow the rules, we will get through it – TOGETHER.

Your advice is terrific!

In this uncertain times I find comfort in nature. Going to my backyard and watching the buds in the trees calms me. Stay safe and well!

These are definitely strange times, and everything does feel a bit uncertain at the moment. But we’ll get through it, we just need to do our part and stay connected through other means ????

This is so true – I think we can lose sight of the importance of self-care when we start thinking about things and focussing on the things that are out of control. There is still a lot that we can control – how we spend our time, whom we spend it with, how much information we consume, what we make with the food that we have. Take good care and stay safe XX

Caz, I am so proud of how you handle yourself and the care you show for others. It’s one of the reasons I love you so much! 🙂 We need positive voices during these times and your voice matters so much more than you’ll ever realize.

I think this line is easily one of the most important points we could ever drive home: “Reach out and connect with others online or on the phone. Limit your news intake each day if it’s getting overwhelming.” — You’re 100% right! Remembering that we aren’t alone during this time of transition and change is critical to feeling less isolated emotionally. We can be socially responsible, while still staying connected with loved ones. Knowing that some things are still safe and okay helps to dismantled some of the overwhelming fear. Limiting news intake is a BIG one, in my humble opinion. Being empathetic is also critical during this time. Everyone is experiencing change, but it is affecting everyone differently. Caring matters!

Thank you for sharing these words of wisdom, Caz. It’s another amazing post from you! ♥ Sending you all of my love, prayers and best wishes. How are you doing?

Great post as always, Caz.

These are strange times for everyone. There can’t be anyone who isn’t affected by this virus in some way. All we can do is try to support each other in whatever way we can.

Take care of yourself, and stay safe x

Priority delivery? I wish America would latch on to that. What a brilliant idea.

Are they not trying to ‘prioritise’ the highly vulnerable people at all? All it essentially means with online deliveries with supermarkets is that some places only allow home delivery to those on the list, and others are giving slot first picks to those on the list. Despite having an account with 6 different places and checking at different times of the day routinely, I’ve not found any slot.. So it certainly doesn’t guarantee delivery! I guess I live in a busier large town too so it’ll vary. I really would have thought they’d do more over in the US to help those that need it, even curbside collections and such? xx

It’s been over three weeks since we left the house or set foot in a store — we have been using up what we have in the freezer and we have gotten a couple of grocery deliveries. Delivery times are pretty scarce, though! I just put in another delivery order yesterday and the soonest it was available was April 24th, nearly two weeks out. We’ve also subscribed to a place that does bi-weekly organic fruit and vegetable deliveries that you can customize, to an extent. This is in California, so I suspect that although we have more population using these kinds of services, we also have many more options than other states in the U.S. …

I’m glad you’ve not been out, I hope you can keep it that way. You don’t need anyone to tell you that you’re ‘vulnerable’, and I don’t want to nag you, but stay safe, even with the stuff that’s being delivered ???? Yeah, I think if you’re able to get a delivery slot you’d need to be doing it in advance by a few weeks by the sound of the wait! Makes me think of my stoma supply orders where I have to place the order around two weeks before I need the stuff. I hope the organic fruit & veggies are nice, and that you’ve got enough between your freezer supplies & grocery deliveries to keep you going. Stay safe & have a restful Easter weekend, James ????

This is lovely, Caz. Limiting news intake is great advice and turned out to be vital for me. I was getting depressed and feeling overwhelmingly hopeless at first…and I was watching the news daily. I’m staying at home and doing all we’re being asked to do…but staying away from news these days. Reading snippets here and there. On a need to know basis. I like how You say “Go easy on yourself.” It’s such an odd time. Thank You for this sweet offering. I hope You and Yours are well! Stay safe and Rock On!!! ????❤️????

Great post, Caz. These are testing times, for sure. I know I am lucky in many ways, as I have a large house and garden. I am also well used to working from home, as being a self-employed writer/editor/blogger I have done this for many years. But even I am feeling stressed and anxious about the current situation. Stay safe, everyone, and remember that all things must pass.
