Snuggle Up With Heat Holders [ Review ]

I’ve recommended them before but today I want to share a little more on their product line. Given my chronic illnesses, along with Raynaud’s and how I feel the cold more than I should, staying warm is a mission. Heat Holders makes that mission a lot easier. Thanks to being kindly gifted some goodies, I’m able to provide my Heat Holders review here.

Here’s a look at the brand, their fab products & why I love them.

Heat Holders Love

Heat Holders is a popular and much loved worldwide brand, known for their innovative and effective thermal product line. Their parent brand, Sock Shop, host an impressive range of brands, including Heat Holders, Gentle Grip, IOMI FootNurse, BlueGuard, and an exciting new brand PermaCool.

I’ve been using Heat Holders for a few years now, since buying my first pair of thermal gloves and falling in love with the brand. I’ve been very kindly gifted some new goodies by Heat Holders to share them with you here!

Heat Holders is for all things warm and snuggly. They excel in thermal gear and have an extensive range of tempting items for men, women and kids, along with a selection of home products.

You can buy products directly from the Heat Holders website. You can also buy from the full range on the Sock Shop website, along with their other brands. Alternatively, you can find them on SockSnob, which I’d highly recommend, as well as other outlets like Amazon or eBay.

A Tempting Product Range

The range for men and women include : Socks, gloves, slippers, hats, neck warmers, thermal body wear, jumpers, ski gloves and jackets. For the kids there are socks, hats, tights and gloves, including some very funky character socks. I wish the yellow minion socks were in my size, I think my tootsies would like those.

In the gifting section, you’ll find the likes of boxed memory foam slippers, men’s hat and gloves sets, and some very sweet family-specific items such as “best grandma”, “best grandad” or “love you mum” socks. In the home section, we have blanket heaven.

The snuggly warm products employ a unique formulation; they are made with specific materials in a particular way, giving them an edge over other brands. As per the Heat Holders US website, their socks are made in a 3 step process: “An advanced insulating yarn is used to construct a sock with a long loop thermal pile which is then intensely brushed. This traps warm air generated by your body closer to your skin for longer, keeping you warm and comfortable.”

In terms of price, I think they provide good value for money. Compared to some brands (including high street outdoors brands in the UK that I’ve noticed) you’ll find Heat Holders are often cheaper, while also providing a wider range of styles and designs. They’re not the cheapest of thermals you’ll find, but value for money isn’t about being cheap, it’s about what you get weighed up against what you pay. You’re investing in quality with Heat Holders, so you’re getting products that are effective and should last you well.

My Warm Paws

When it comes to accessories, my Heat Holders thermal gloves are one thing I can’t be without, especially in the colder months. I have Raynaud’s, erythromelalgia, and my body doesn’t regulate temperature since my general health decline started a few years ago. This means I’m often freezing and it can be quite uncomfortable, not to mention how the cold can make chronic pain worse for many people. As those with Raynaud’s know, it’s extra important to keep your extremities warm, so finding a decent pair of gloves and socks is crucial.

The purple Heat Holders gloves I bought a few years ago have stood the test of time, retaining their shape and colour after wearing and hand washing. I wanted to try something a little different and have a back-up pair; I was kindly gifted a pair of the Trondheim design by SockSnob last year, which I wrote about on the blog.

Hands down (excuse the pun), these are the best thermal gloves I’ve ever used. I have small paws so they’re still a bit big on me in the smallest size but they still manage to fit well enough. Compared to other gloves I’ve used previously, the Heat Holders ones are the snuggest, warmest and most capable of protecting against the elements. There are various designs available but I’ve become quite fond of the Trondheim, as pictured below.

A collage of three photos taken by me of the Trondheim gloves - Black gloves with white and grey details like criss-cross patterns that cover half the glove.

Socks Galore!

I was thrilled to get to try out some socks from this brand partly because it’s the small things that make me happy, and partly because my tootsies get cold and it’s pretty uncomfortable wearing two pairs of sock when I go out. Thermal socks can add extra comfort for sore feet while providing better protection in the colder weather.

Heat Holders thermal socks use acrylic yarn so your feet will stay nicely warm but not sweaty. There’s a varied range of colours and designs so there’s something for everyone – great for those wanting a choice, difficult for the indecisive among us.

To give you an idea of the selection, here are three different designs. Each has a different tog rating: Original at 2.3 tog (the warmest), Lite at 1.6 tog and Ultra Lite at 1.0 tog. You can see the warmest is the thickest, while the Ultra Lite is far more like a regular sock in terms of thickness, yet manages to be much warmer, so you can easily get into tighter fitting shoes and boots.

I love that there are different thicknesses. I’ve been wearing the Ultimate Thermal Original and Lite ones around the house because they’re just so snug. Both are very warm and they’ve made walking in my Doc Martens when going out that bit more comfortable, too. The Ultra Lite are going to be me year-round go-to pair; much thinner yet super soft and still warm. None of them have made my feet sweaty and none have been at all restrictive.

A photo of the three pairs of women's thermal socks.
A photo of my legs out wearing the purple stripe socks with my fireplace and skull canvas in the background.

The Warmest Thermal sock is able to boast being “over 7x warmer than regular cotton socks and nearly 3x warmer than ordinary thermal socks”, which is impressive.

For ages now I’ve been wearing two pairs of socks, which hasn’t been particularly comfortable! I’d tried thermal socks before, but a cheap pair from a cheap highstreet retailer beginning with P. They pulled apart after the first wear, leaving fluff everywhere and I can’t say they were even particularly warm. The Heat Holders ones are a world apart from those, I’m glad to say. Thick, soft inside, no ridiculous fluffing everywhere, no pulling apart at all. They’re super comfortable and wear well, but they also wash well too.

Heat Holders Men’s & Women’s Thermal Socks – Amazon UK / Amazon US

There are also snuggle slipper socks and bed socks. The former has the rubber grips underneath so they’re great for around the house, and the latter are extra soft for wearing in bed, light on your feet and not tightly gripped around the ankle either. I’ve been surprised by the darker purple slipper socks pictured here with just how light they are. You could forget you’re even wearing socks; they’re so light on your feet and incredibly soft inside, and around the ankle is feather light, so even with swelling, oedema and water retention they are brilliantly comfortable.

Heat Holders Blanket Bliss

Snuggling up with a blankie and a good book or some Netflix goodness plus a cuppa tea is my heavenly respite. It’s good to have a way of comforting or distracting yourself, and it’s what many of us come to appreciate all the more when dealing with chronic illness, exhaustion and pain.

I couldn’t hide my grin when unpacking this. So. Damn. Happy.

This is the Snuggle Thermal Luxury Fleece Blanket / Throw : 1.7 tog, 180cm x 200cm.

You’re not restricted in the colour department because there are 16 colours to choose from.I’ve received the Snuggle Thermal Fleece in ‘Antique Silver’ and it’s a gorgeous grey colour. It’s a fur-like fleecy material so when you smooth it up it’s a little lighter tone, smooth it down and it’s a little darker. It’s beautifully luxurious yet understated to compliment different colour schemes at home, especially if used as a bed or sofa throw.

A photo of the grey blanket still in the ribbon wrap.

The Heat Holders blankets aren’t just snuggly soft, they’re also warmer than your average microfibre blanket. This provides 1.7 tog warmth for wrapping yourself up in. It’s been used on top of my duvet during this wintery cold weather and it keeps the warmth in very well. I hope to be using just this blanket in the summer months (providing we have duvet-free days of warmth this year).

The size is perfect. I prefer larger blankets so I was glad to see this is a generous size. Measuring up at 180cm x 200cm, it’s adequate for a double bed using it as a throw, and certainly large enough to properly wrap around yourself to snuggle up in.

These blankets provide a little luxury and a lot of warming comfort. Emphasis on the luxury because they are so, so silky smooth.

I’m not sure what I was expecting with the Heat Holders blanket but I was curious how it would compare to my usual microfibre ones, which are similar in style. You can tell the different immediately. This one is incredibly silky and really does feel indulgently luxurious. It’s not too heavy either, despite it being so warming. It’s pretty much perfect in all respects and gloriously plush. It didn’t take long before my cat took a shine to it either.

A photo of my black and white cat looking sleepy as he lounges on my new blanket.
Cheeky sleepy kitty already commandeering my blanket.

If you want something a little different, there are also smaller Super Plush throw blankets for super warmth, luxury down blankets, original luxury fleece, and even an outdoor blanket with waterproof backing.

Heat Holders : Overall Review & 5 Star Recommendation

As someone who seems to be perpetually cold, winters warmers aren’t just for winter. The gloves get ample use already. The thickest socks are perfect for icy days while the thinner, lower tog pairs will be used throughout the year. The same goes for the blanket as I anticipate using this year-round. There’s sadly still plenty of cold weather ahead in the UK to get the most out of your thermals before summer, and you’ll be well prepped for next winter. Brrr, another winter doesn’t even bear thinking about!

Heat Holders is a brand that knows its consumer base and appreciates what’s important. Comfort, efficiency, quality materials, aesthetics. The range is adequately varied to cater to men, women and kids with a plethora of product types and designs to suit all needs and preferences. Then there are the blankets, adding luxurious warmth to your home so you can snuggle up in style.

From my own experience, I’ve been very pleased with Heat Holders over the years through my own purchases and with these most recent goodies. I wouldn’t trade my thermal gear for the world. It’s a pleasure to be able to give such a positive review so honestly and to be able to say, without any reservations, that I’d recommend Heat Holders.

Wrap up warm & stay cosy, everyone!

I thought they only did gloves. They do a lot don’t they? Never realised this before. I actually wanted thermal socks this winter but didn’t get any in the end so I’ll check those out and the blanket looks tempting too. You’ve done great with this post, amazing review.

That’s why I was pleased to be able to cover a bit more of their range because a lot of people either think of only gloves or only socks. And the designs just in either of those are really varied, too! I’d highly recommend the socks, so snug & soft. If you do get to try anything then I hope you love it, I’m sure you will – thanks for the comment, Claire! x

Hope your kitty remembers to share with you!

I also wanted to let you know I went back and added all of the alt descriptions for the images so you can get a better idea of what they are. I forgot that I’d changed the images and lost all the alt information as I was updating the post. All done now.
At least you have a nice blankie that you like with the wolves on, I hope it keeps you comfy. I think because I get so much use out of blankets and such I need at least a spare for washing and wearing. Thanks for the comment, Kirsty – I hope you’re keeping warm and well this weekend  ♥ xx

So glad to see that you found something great to stay warm and snuggle up with. What a great review of this product Caz. I hate being cold, I find that if my feet and hands are warm the rest of my body stays warm. I’m loving the socks, and will have to check them out, something to plan for next winter. In the meantime, happy warm snuggles. xoxo

There is definitely a reason that I found you❣ I have Raynauds and have not found any gloves that provide enough protection for me during the cold weather. I clicked your links and added gloves and socks to my Amazon cart. I’m glad you were able to find a product to give you some relief.

InvisiblyMe March 1, 2020 - 6:05 pm

I’m glad you found me (over on Twitter first, I think?) and that I could start following your blog, too! I’m sorry you struggle with Raynaud’s as well. It’s so important to keep hands especially, as well as tootsies, warm and protected. I don’t think anything will stop your hands getting cold or getting a dead finger when it’s icy cold because that’s the nature of the condition. However, I’ve been through various thermal stuff and nothing has made much of a difference except these – absolutely fantastic and I wouldn’t be without them anymore. I really do hope they can be helpful for you, too!  ♥ xx

It’s fab that you’re a fellow Heat Holders fan, Liz! As for the gloves, what do you have at the moment? If yours aren’t doing enough then thermals may be the way to go. Definitely the best investment for me with winter warmers so far. The blankie is definitely cosy. I’m almost sad to have to swap it out for my old one when it needs to go in the wash ???? Wrap up warm, Liz – thanks for the comment!xx

I’m jealous, those plug ins must be so good! The socks are fab, in love with them already especially as my tootsies get cold with the circulation issues. I wish there was a battery-powered heated dressing down. Now there’s a niche in the market ???? Stay toasty, Gemma! xx

Another 5 star review from you, Caz. I’m betting there isn’t a [quality] company on the planet that wouldn’t be pleased to work with you after seeing your reviews! You always do such a brilliant job of highlighting everything someone would want to know about the product and sharing your own personal experiences as well.

I must admit, I’m a fan of Heat Warmers after reading this 😀 My favorite part by part? I love the photo of your feet propped up with the funky skull art in the background and the one of Virgil hogging all the warm, soft goodness of the new blanket! (which now of course fully belongs to him and you may borrow a corner on occasion!) ????

I love that they rate their products by warmth/tog too. That helps a ton when choosing the right fit for your needs. The slippers sound super cozy. Fuzzy warm stuff is always a weakness around here! 😉

The acrylic yarn sounds interesting too. Warm without being sweaty is a blessing! There isn’t much worse than nearly passing out when we take off our shoes from the smell! ???? Plus the fungus concerns too.

You’ve turned me into a fan Caz. You’ve done it again but there’s no surprise there! ???? ~ Holly

Yikes! Sorry for the typos on my last comment, by the way! It’s 2 AM at the moment and I should be sleeping (after 2 days of not getting much sleep) But alas, the cat went berserk and woke me up because she was trying to destroy the house! (sigh)

Oh the joys sometimes of being a cat parent….

You give such amazing comments, Holly – thank you so much for taking the time to share this, I hugely appreciate it. What’s more, you did it at 2am while there was a cat causing destruction, that’s true dedication! If there were an award for cat parent of the year…

You always bring a smile to my face, and I’m so glad you liked the review! I think you’re right, it may be Virgil’s blanket now. He even looks at me like I’m encroaching on his space if I have to nudge him over to be able to get on MY bed because he’s lying where I sit. The evil look he gives if I move the blanket or the cushion he’s propped his head on? I fear what would happen if he was around when I was asleep!

The tog rating is really helpful, especially if you’re comparing between a couple of things because it’s not easy to tell by looking at something how warm it’s actually going to be, it’s not always a case of what looks the thickest is the best/warmest.

I’m happy to have officially converted you, Holly! ????
Thanks again for the fab comment – I hope you have a lovely weekend xxxx
