Art therapy and colouring are great ways to relax and discover a creative outlet. Adult colouring has been gaining popularity and now there’s a plethora of great books out there to colour to your heart’s content! Let’s take a look at some of the best colouring book picks for this summer.
β β β
Escape to Wonderland: A Colouring Book Adventure
This is an intricately designed, beautiful book with a hint of magic and fun to take you away from the world while you colour.
Sit the F*ck Down and Colour: Adult Swear Word Colouring Book for Stress Relief
This is one for those who can appreciate the childish nature of colouring in swear words and accompanying illustrations. There’s something cathartic about saying f*ck it, and now you can do just that while clutching your Crayola.
Millie Marotta’s Tropical Wonderland: A Colouring Book Adventure
Millie Marotta has designed gorgeous exotic plants and animals for this Tropical Wonderland, another beautiful and intricate choice to relax and inspire.
Swearing Cats Coloring Book
A Sweary Adult Coloring Book of 40 Rude, Funny Swearing Cat Designs with Zentangle and Mandala Style Patterns: Volume 2
A slight twist here to bring together two amazing things in life : cats and swearing. Can’t get much better than that. Let your seriousness be displaced while you have a go at this one!
Mindful Mandalas
This one does what it says on the tin. Gorgeously crafted mandalas for hours of relaxation, where you can create a colourful masterpiece on each page.
Cats : 70 Designs to Help You De-stress
What I also quite like about this one is that the sheets are detachable, so you can more easily stick up your works of art on display when you’re finished.
Enchanted Forest : An Inky Quest & Colouring Book
Take a trip to the Enchanted Forest, where you’ll find enigmatic outlines to complete and colour in a world of your own. There’s an added bonus with this one: hidden symbols that will reveal something special by ‘unlocking’ the castle door at the end of your journey.
Moomin Colouring Diary
This is super cute & I love it! This works as a weekly diary where you can keep track of events or journal your feelings as you colour, complete with Moomin words of wisdom and inspiration along the way.
Amazon US Moomin Coloring Book
Do you like adult colouring for a dose of creativity & calm?

I think that’s so awesome that there are swearing colouring books out there!
I know, it’s brilliant!! x
This is such a great selection, thank you – I know so many people who find colouring books therapeutic. I’m definitely checking out the swearing cats…
You’re right, there’s a lot of people who love colouring for the therapeutic, relaxing benefits. The swearing cat colouring book is so cool, very novel for a few giggles while colouring! Thanks for the comment, Julie π
Oooohhh, me thinks its time to re-supply the color books in the bin! Awesome.~ Kim
Glad you liked the selection – it’s amazing the sort of colouring books that are available now, such a great variety! π

I have a bit of an obsession with Alice in Wonderland so I NEED that colouring book!
Me too, I love that it’s become more of an ‘in thing’ recently because there’s more bits and bobs that are Alice In Wonderland themed in the shops! It’s such a cute colouring book, I hope you enjoy it if you treat yourself to it π

Omg I love these! Especially the sweary ones ????????????????????????
Heheee, the sweary ones are brilliant!! Glad you liked the selection, Laina – Have a good rest of the week π
Haha, the tropical wonderland and enchanted forest ones would cause me more stress than theyβre worth! Too many tiny little bits to color! I do have several adult coloring books, though. I even have a Doctor Who one! ????
I actually quite like the intricate bits, I think huge spaces to colour would possibly annoy me more because I’d see all the line marks and different shades. Ooo that one sounds cool for Doctor Who fans! π

I’ve never tried them, but my daughter says they are a lot of fun. I should give them a try π
I’m glad your daughter enjoys them. You should give them a try, I know a lot of people swear by colouring for relaxation =]
I agree, art is such a wonderful therapy. It allows you to wind down, relax and forget about your illness for a little while. it’s funny because I once blogged about this too. I now design my own colour in sheets which unfortunately I can’t share with you as I’m in Australia but I will definitely share you the link to my new website once it’s up and running.
Can we do a poll on how many other people living with chronic illness thing art is relaxing?
I think the part about winding down and forgetting, if only for a little while, about problems and pains and illness, is so important. Aw that would be awesome – if you have anything you’d like me to share here I’d be happy to as well.
The poll would be an interesting idea – I’ll add that to my to-do list to see how to get one of those set up! Thanks for the great comment – I hope you’re doing okay today π

That Moomin one sounds a bit different with it being a diary so you can log your feelings and things too. I’m pinning this for later!
I thought the Moomin one definitely added something different to the adult colouring world, and it’s Moomins so I already love it! Thanks for the comment, Rachael π

They are all good, but I’ll start with the kitty coloring books first.
Have a fabulous day, my friend. β₯
Those ones do look fun, don’t they?! π

Art is such a wonderful therapy. I have all of Millie Marrota’s colouring books and found it hard to finish at least one of the pictures! But I’ll crack at it this Summer, along with my beautiful sketchbook.
All the best, i hope you have an enjoyable Summer!

Wow, how many Marrota books are there in total? I did spot a few others while I was researching for this post, and she certainly seems to make some beautiful designs. I hope you can enjoy a little more colouring when you can this summer. Thanks for the comment, Erin π

I like the idea of these, but am too ‘color outside the lines’ LOL — tho I enjoyed stopping by my local public library a couple of times to rub shoulders with other color-ers
A colour-outside-the-lines rebel, I like it! Colouring is loved by many, but it’s certainly not for everyone. Is there something arty for relaxation that you like instead? Maybe I could do a post with picks for that next time π

Hi, You stopped by my blog today and left a comment. I was reading it and about to reply when I somehow trashed your comment. I just wanted you to know it wasn’t intentional and I don’t know how to bring it back! Thank you for reading and for commenting. I appreciate your support and I agree, it seems like most of the time the people have no idea how their comment has affected us! When my friend comes back in town, I am thinking of sharing my feelings with her. Most importantly I don’t want her to continue to make negative comments about one of the most vulnerable and difficult times of my life.
Aw thank you for letting me know! It’s easy to do, delete something without meaning to. I think speaking with her would be a good idea so that you don’t stew on it and build in negative feelings, especially if she continues with such remarks. Keep us posted on how it goes, Tina.xx
OMG!! I neva knew they existed! π π
Neither did I until I started researching for this post – there are some brilliant ones out there! x
Great selection, love colouring mandalas already. Swearing cats has to be worth a look!
Mandalas are great to colour because you know they’re going to look so beautiful afterwards. Definitely think swearing cats is a good pick, can’t go wrong with that! Thanks for the comment, Karen π
Hi Caz, I’ve nominated you for the Mystery Blogger Award on this post x
https://blueskydays365.wordpress.com/2018/07/25/nomination-catch-up/
I saw this earlier – thank you very much, that’s very kind! π
OMG, I love all of it….
Yay, I’m glad you like them! π
Thanks for sharing these Caz! I donβt know if coloring relaxes me or stresses me out, but I sure enjoy it.???? Youβve featured a great selection here!
Hah I find that with drawing – think it stresses me more than relaxes! Colouring is easier though, and if you can be less perfectionistic about it then it does have a calming appeal. I know some people find it super relaxing. Glad you liked the selection, there are some great books out there! π
Caz, this was great advice! I have always loved coloring and even got some adult coloring books are Christmas’s ago! Sadly though my right hand and arm have been in so much pain it is hard to color now. I can do it still in small portions! I enjoy the ones with bad language because they make me laugh!!! Your featured selection was GREAT!!!
Yay I’m glad you liked these! It was interesting having a browse to see what’s out there, those sweary ones are brilliant. I’m sorry about your hand & arm, I can see that making colouring difficult; I do hope you can get out your colouring books & do a little here and there for enjoyment when you can though π
xx
I like the second one.
I don’t colour anywhere near enough!!! Well, I should, right? What are colours for after all π
i had bought a secret garden colouring book a few years ago and i havent still got round to using it!
I love the patterns and the concpet but i forget!
This post has definitely motivated me to start it again x
