Frugal Friday Deals & Discounts [ 30/02/2018 ]

It’s Friday again, and also the tail end of March. It’s been a difficult month, but thoughts of spring help buoy spirits, despite the washout Easter in the UK. Do you have any plans for the Easter break, whether you celebrate Easter or just enjoy the long weekend? I hope it’s a restful, positive one, whatever you’re up to. Here’s today’s mini Frugal Friday goodness!

Free Heartstart Training

A birds eye view of two hands apart as though cupping a large bowel. In between is a digital image of an ECG line with a heart in it.

UPDATED : The “Heartstart” training has changed – there’s now a page with training resources available on the BHF here.

“Heartstart is our initiative to teach emergency life saving skills to the British public. By attending a course near you, you’re helping us create a nation of life savers – where everyone knows how to save a life.

We support over 1,700 Heartstart schemes which teach life saving skills in schools and in the community.

Individuals or groups can attend a two-hour training course and learn how to:

  • recognise a heart attack and a cardiac arrest
  • help  an unconscious person
  • perform CPR
  • help someone choking
  • respond to serious bleeding.”

Easter Freebies

It’s Easter weekend, for those who celebrate it or take part in any way. The Internet has lots of free printables for kids and adults alike so if you feel like a little colouring or craftiness with an Easter theme then the Activity Village has some great printables. I quite like the cute bunny bookmarks.

MumInTheMadHouse also has some great adult egg-shaped colouring pages that are free to download and print.

Fancy trying something out in the kitchen? The BBC Good Food website has lots of free Easter baking, from brownies and biscuits to cheesecake & hot cross buns.

Free Access To Ancestry.co.uk

“From 30 March to 2 April, you’ll be able to search millions of UK, Ireland and Commonwealth records – all completely free*. Start in Britain then head off to Australia, Canada, or wherever, and spend four full days finding long-lost family all over the Commonwealth.”

You can sign up for a free account at Ancestry.co.uk, and when the free period is over after 2nd April you can still access your findings/family tree, but you won’t be able to do any more searches until they offer another free period.

You can search various records, including the likes of Historical photographs & prints, Commonwealth records, and birth/marriage/death indexes.

I’m going to give this a go myself as I think it’ll be fascinating to dig a little and see what can be found. Not a bad freebie if you want something a little different to do over the Easter weekend!

Have a good Easter weekend, everyone!

I’m enjoying seeing all the Easter crafts that are out there. Such fun and so easy to do and it doesn’t cost an arm and a leg.

Have a fabulous day and a happy Easter. β™₯

The internet is a wonderful thing for crafts and learning new things, not sure what we’d to without it now! Thank you – I hope you’ve been having a lovely Easter weekend too πŸ™‚

What a great post, Caz.
My brother investigated our ‘family tree’ some years past. He was able to go back 10 generations, which was such an interesting thing to do; it’s quite surprising what one can find..!
Have a great Easter! πŸ™‚

No plans this weekend. It is supposed to rain here too. (North Carolina, US)
I love the activity site, I sent it to a friend of mine who has the most adorable little boy ever. He’s autistic and I thought he might really enjoy some of the activities.
Thank you for sharing!
Have the best weekend possible. xo Wendy
