Liebster Award – 10 Photos Of Me, Me, Me!

The lovely Kim at I Tripped Over A Stone nominated me for the Liebster Award 2017 but with a difference, requesting 10 pictures to tell my readers a little more about me & to describe my life. Challenge accepted! Though I will say that I feel rather self-absorbed doing this post all about me, me, me!

I spend a lot of time on my trusty MacBook with writing, blogging, emails etc.

Tea, blanket & a good book; an almost unbeatable combination when dealing with fatigue & pain. That’s my slice of heaven right there.

My cat, abandoned by his owner. He doesn’t understand how to retract his claws, but I think deep down he knows I want a golden retriever.

I have a thing about skull designs. They’re everywhere. Even on the sweater I’m wearing in this photo, my phone case and my mug.

Hello Kitty is an adult phase I grew in to (and thus will likely never grow out of!)

Chronic, invisible illness. It has changed my life but it’s not who I am, just a part of me.

Art – I love it, but I’m not very good at it unless I’m copying like for like. It’s something I want to do more of in 2018.

My mum, who is amazing.

Graduating with a First Class Psychology BSc Hons degree (quite a few years ago now). I self-taught my degree via the Open University. Still sad that health & finances mean I never took this further, as I would have loved to go into Clinical Psych or Counselling.

My stoma doesn’t define me, but it’s certainly changed & shaped my life. I’m still learning to deal with it and everything it throws at me, including another surgery in 2018.

I’d like to open this up to you lovely guys & gals – If anyone would like to do this award, please feel free! And drop me a comment when you have so I can make sure to check out your photos 🙂

Invisibly me, I love this. Showing myself is something I intend to do more of this year on my blog, starting with my first blog post for this year, publishing it in a couple of days, Thanks.

    • January 7, 2018 / 6:23 pm

Thanks again for the nomination! It was fun, and surprisingly challenging actually, to do. I’d love to hang out with you too, Kim – I’m glad for the Internet and the blogging world to make up for the physical distance to ‘meet’ awesome people like you! 🙂
      Caz x

Congratulations on your award. I am STILL laughing about your cat hahaha

    • January 8, 2018 / 2:53 pm

Hahah yes he’s quite the little monster (but a cute one) when he wants to be! 🙂

  6. January 7, 2018 / 8:15 pm

Thanks to Kim, this was incredibly imaginative.
BTW, we seem to have more in common than I thought. I had a stoma once. It’ a long story. I’ll share it one day.

    • January 8, 2018 / 2:53 pm

It’s a great idea to do an award with photos, a bit different to answering questions that’s for sure. I don’t know why you had a stoma, but if ever you want to share or write about it on your blog I’d be interested to hear more. I do hope that things are better for you now health-wise, without the stoma. Caz xx

I loved looking at your photos Caz, what a lovely collection! You always seem to have a good book on the go, any recommendations, I need a few good reads to look forward to? I can’t wait to see more of your art projects this year, you are much better than you give yourself credit for! Xx

    • January 8, 2018 / 2:52 pm

Aw thanks Nat! I really need a kick up the bum to get started on something a little out of my comfort zone, such as with arty projects. Books, well, I tend to read a lot of American crime thrillers (Kathy Reichs, Linda Fairstein, Lisa Gardner). One that was rather different to the norm, but which made for interesting reading, was Horns. I don’t know if you’ve read that, but it was also made into a film the other year. What kind of genres do you like?xx

  8. January 7, 2018 / 11:06 pm

What a great idea. It’s good to see more about you ? Great post!

    • January 8, 2018 / 2:49 pm

It is a good idea, a little different to answering questions (though it was oddly harder than I expected to come up with photos to represent parts of my life!) Thanks for taking the time to comment Gem 🙂

  9. January 7, 2018 / 11:21 pm

Love your cat, and you are beautiful.

    • January 8, 2018 / 2:48 pm

Aw that’s very kind of you to say Susan. Actually, the cat chooses whether he wants to play nicely or not as he doesn’t seem to understand how to retract his claws when he jumps up and tries to say hello. He bites too when he play fights. Now I know why I’m more of a dog person! 🙂

  10. January 8, 2018 / 4:57 am

Aw thank you Gail! It was harder than I imagined to be honest, as not all of the things that are important to me and my life are concrete things I can take photos of.x

  17. January 8, 2018 / 11:13 pm

Congratulations on your nomination! This was a great way to get to know you a bit – a quick overview. I love having a glimpse into other people’s lives, probably stems from being housebound lol… Hope your 2018 will be wonderful and you will get to draw more – that’s one of my goals this year too.

Thanks, Emma! It was actually harder than I had anticipated… but it’s quite fun to have a different type of “tag”/”award” to do. Maybe you should give it a go, I’d love to see what photos you’d choose! 🙂

  19. January 10, 2018 / 11:22 pm

I love this!! I’m so glad you did it!
    Kim challenged me too, but I haven’t done it yet…maybe i will…..

You have another surgery coming up? crud. I hope it’s helpful.

Have I ever told you how much I love your stoma covers? You rock!!

  20. January 10, 2018 / 11:39 pm

Have a thought…probably way off base, but about your degree, could you become a therapist and do via the internet?
Like the sites Better Help…and I think there’s one called Talk Space?
I don’t know what it would take for you to become licensed, or how these things work in the UK, I just know you really wanted to do it.
I can’t imagine being able to do anything like that, I just thought I’d throw it out there to you.
    {{{hugs}}} wendy

    • January 11, 2018 / 6:30 pm

Thank you so much, that’s very kind of you! It’s odd because counselling wasn’t something you technically had to have an extra qualification for but it’s becoming more regulated now… It’s better to become qualified and ensure you can get work, or train as a specific type of counsellor or even a Clinical Psychologist. I’ll look into what Better Help and Talk Space, see what I can find.

Yes, another surgery… I’ll do a little update soon. Just have a pre-op test today to make sure everything else is okay so surgery can go ahead. Yuck, had enough of hospitals.

I think you should do the award – I’d love to see the photos you choose! 🙂
      Thanks again lovely  ♥
      Caz x
