When You Feel You Haven’t Achieved Anything…

by InvisiblyMe

It can be disappointing to feel as though you’ve not achieved much, not done enough, that you don’t have anything ‘to show’ for your years. It’s not true. Look a little deeper. See the beauty in the person you are. The warrior that keeps you fighting, every day. The way your illness may have made you more empathic, appreciative, considerate, thoughtful, resilient.

Your achievement as a person is priceless and immeasurable. Remind yourself that regardless of where you are, what society deems that you have or have not accomplished, that you’re a good person, and that counts for more than you realise.

“If you can't fly then run, if you can't run then walk, if you can't walk then crawl, but whatever you do you have to keep moving forward.” (1)

Love this! So important to remember. I feel so useless since having to stop working, it’s hard to feel accomplished or useful.

I agree. It’s critical that we don’t always get sucked into those big old things!

I hate the notion that our worth is determined by tangible, visible measurements like the job we have, salary we earn, house we own and car we drive. It’s so shallow. A friend of mine, who at the time was a senior local government officer stated his occupation as “refuse collector” on his daughter’s grammar school application form, as a protest! (She still got a place!)

Yes, so very true. I love that protest, so simple yet a powerful idea (and so glad she still got a place)!

This is a great reminder that everything we go through makes us stronger! 🙂
