Operation Time : Round 4

by InvisiblyMe

Pre-Op AssessmentRound 4

This will be my last proper post before going in now. I’ve got the practical bits and bobs to sort out, and then I’ll be on clear fluids only for the day before the op, eating jelly and daydreaming of bacon sandwiches.

I hope you all have a restful weekend and a decent week ahead. If you’re ‘celebrating’ Valentine’s, then enjoy. But for those that aren’t… It’s easy to have such a day get under your skin when you’re not with someone, have lost a relationship, or don’t have a social group to buoy your spirits. Take it as an opportunity to spoil yourself and do something you enjoy while smugly knowing you’ve not bought in to the over-priced consumerist junk lining the shelves of every store since Christmas.

I took my folks out today for a few drinks to say thank you for their support. I must admit I’ve felt very low and very alone the lately. If you’re someone that has experienced fickle friends, those that are there when then want something or when it suits them, then I know how you feel. It even hurts when people don’t respond to a simple email, such as my manager from the job I was just let go from. But don’t take it too personally as it reflects more on them than on you. Don’t be too disheartened; you may feel lonely, but you are not alone. I tried to let some of this go and enjoy the afternoon – I made fuss of the dog at the local pub over a drink or two (who managed to knock me over on my arse with a single gentle jump!) and I got my folks to play pool and release a few giggles between themselves. I also managed to – finally – get the cat on his new toy!

I also just wanted to say a huge thank you – To everyone that reads this blog, likes/comments on posts, visits the Facebook page… Thank you! I hope that something I write, some information I share, some link I recommend, anything, may be of use to even one person. You all rock!

Hopefully, all being well, I’ll be able to send an update next week from hospital. Until then… x

Wishing you all the best for your op. I will be the same on Thursday drinking broth and eating jelly. Drinking horrible prep. Take it easy ?

I have the exact same cat tree! I think my four play with it…mostly when I’m not looking..
I hope everything goes well for you, safe procedure and swift recovery :)x

I think my cat does that too, uses it when I’m not looking…cheeky things, aren’t they? Do yours use the scratching posts at all? Mine seems to love raking the back of a leather chair too much to use his own scratching posts instead. Thank you very much for your kind wishes 🙂 x

No…we have leather chairs too which seem more pleasing than the scratch posts! They do bat the little balls on the strings though…
Hope all goes well :)x

wishing you all the best with the operation and for a speedy recovery. What a gorgeous cat, my cat is such a comfort to me, she sits on my feet and just purrs adoringly it is so soothing.
Agree about those fair weather friends, as you rightly say, it reflects more in them then you. I hope to be able to hear from you soon that you are doing ok, Jules xx

My cat only seems to be affectionate when he wants something, he really does suit himself! Glad yours sounds a little more sociable. Thanks for the kind wishes and the comment Jules, take care and look forward to reading more on your blog 🙂

That’s something I really like in other people’s blogs – genuine posts which tell you how things are, people who post about what takes their fancy rather than what they think they should be writing etc. Likewise look forward to reading more of your posts, and hope you’re on the mend soon 🙂

I just wanted to wish you all the best for Tuesday and tell you that you rock too! I know what you mean about some people making you feel alone, it hurts (a lot) but I see the positive in it more now as I realise they they’ve actually done me a favour by revealing their true selves and they aren’t the right people to have in my life anyway! Remember you deserve better and that you have loads of blogging friends who will be there for you whenever you need it and who understand some of what you’re going through too! 🙂 x

It’s actually today – I’ll be en route to the hospital in an hour (and now I’m starting to get scared). That’s very true about seeing how others let you down and such, seeing it as being a favour in the long run. And in my case, it’s made me far more appreciative of the amazing support online and the wonderful bloggers who have shown such compassion, for which I will be eternally grateful. Thank you so much for your comment. Will look forward to reading more of your blog soon hopefully! Have a good week.xx
