Monday Motivation : Adjust Your Sails

Sometimes, we need to learn to adjust and change the things we can, and accept that there are some things we can’t change; we have to work with the situation we’re in and the body we have.

The underlying things and values that are important to you – helping others, earning money, being honest and authentic, being creative in some fashion, contributing to society, being a good role model, laughing, learning, whatever the values you have may be – are still within reach.

Perhaps you have to change the end destination and the path you take, but you can still get to a good place and you can still achieve those things in a different form, they just take a little (or a lot) adjusting and adapting. Don’t give up what is important to you or the values you have.

When we can master “working with what we have” we will begin to see that “what we have” becomes better… stronger! Thank-you for this great quote and post! ๐Ÿ˜‰

    • May 27, 2018 / 4:09 pm

That’s very true. I think it’s often a case of finding you have what you already need right in front of you in some cases, too. I’m glad you liked the post – thank you so much for the great comment, Christy! ๐Ÿ™‚

With my fibro I have learned that change is alway there, you know as well as I do that you might have plans thinking all will be fine and then you have to change it. Sometimes things just don’t seem fair. Hope you are doing well today and I hope you have a non changing day.

    • May 27, 2018 / 4:08 pm

Being flexible is something I’ve struggled with. It’s quite the challenge when your brain needs plans but your body is adamant in breaking them! Thank you for your fab comment, Jan – I do hope the weekend is treating you kindly ย โ™ฅ

Thank you! I wasn’t sure whether anyone would notice, I just wanted a minor adjustment. Not sure what to do with the rest of the design layout yet, but I’d like it a tad more readable. Thanks, Christy! ๐Ÿ™‚

This is so true. And this is one of the hardest things I’ve had to deal with. Everything I was told about life doesn’t apply to where I am right now, and sometimes it feels like I have to make a choice between happiness and integrity. I choose integrity, but I’m still trying to figure out if there might be a way to have both, and what that might be. :\

    • May 26, 2018 / 6:05 pm

I’ve had similar struggles myself, and finding my own path and beliefs on life seems quite different to what I grew up with, what society now teaches us. I think we can have integrity with happiness, but I still find the notion of ‘success’ quite a difficult one; can we be successful but still compassionate, putting others before ourselves, etc? I think so, it’s just a more twisty route to navigate but one that’s surely worth more effort… Wish I had a better answer for you, but you’ve raised an excellent point so thank you so much for your comment! x

I love the quote. I think this is something that I still struggle with even though Iโ€™ve โ€˜acceptedโ€™ that I have MS…I donโ€™t know if Iโ€™m ready to change certain things…

    • May 27, 2018 / 4:06 pm

Change and acceptance are both incredibly hard in their own ways. Perhaps with the former it’s a matter of time, of when you are good and ready and the circumstances are best suited to changing certain things. ย โ™ฅ

Love the quote. And it’s smart — it’s about adjusting to going around obstacles in your path and using what can help you. Using winds and currents when they are in your favor.

    • June 12, 2018 / 3:38 pm

Exactly – going around obstacles and using what you have at your disposal to help along the way! Glad you liked it and thanks for the great comment ๐Ÿ™‚
