Getting To Know Me : This or That & 5 Things Tags

Well, well, well… It’s Friday again already! I do hope that wherever you are that a little warmth & sunshine manages finds you this weekend, and that you all have a positive, restful one whatever you’re up to*! I don’t usually do blog awards & tags, but I’m making an exception for the This or That and 5 Things tags as they looked like fun!

(*Please no mention of the “Royal Wedding” unless you want a scream in return – I wish the lucky couple all the best but the ridiculousness of it all is beyond belief. Is anyone else as sick of hearing about it as me?!)

This or That Tag

I thought I’d do this tag for a bit of fun as I was kindly nominated by an amazing fellow blogger Gail recently. Here it goes – it’s a long one, so you have been warned!

Rules:

  • Thank & tag the person that has tagged youโ€ฆ
         Thank you Gail! ๐Ÿ™‚
  • Answers the โ€˜This or THAT questions – Yes, I’m about to do that, be patient!
  • Tag a 10-20 friends – Sorry, not doing that. Not such a good girl after all as I’m too rebellious to follow all of the rules! If you’d like to do it, please feel free as I’d love to read what you’d choose ๐Ÿ™‚

LETโ€™S GET STARTED!

  • Dog or Cat?
    • Dog. Specifically, a golden retriever. Sorry Virgil – I’ve had to sacrifice my own adopted kittykat in favour of an imaginary dog, he won’t be happy.
  • Netflix or YouTube?
    • Netflix (but YouTube when wanting ridiculous clips to make me giggle)
  • Phone Call or Text?
    • Texty text
  • Toast or Eggs?
    • Toast. Don’t like eggs. Unless they’re made of chocolate.
  • Cardio or Weights?
    • Cardio but my body hasn’t had much of that lately, and the only weight I’ve been dealing is the increase to my thighs the past few months.
  • Facebook or Twitter?
    • Facebook. I’ve never been a tweeting twitterer.
  • Ice Cream Cone or Snow Cone?
    • Ice Cream Cone (with a flake, please!)
  • While walking: Music or Podcasts?
    • Definitely music – I don’t listen to music anywhere near as much as I used to. I need to rectify that.
  • iOS or Android?
    • iOS. Once you take a walk to the dark side there’s no return.
  • Cake or Pie?
    • Cake – but only for the icing as I’m not too fussed by sponge. And no jam.
  • Swimming or Sunbathing?
    • Sunbathing – My body doesn’t have the energy to swim right now. I do love the sun and the warmth as my body copes so much better, but I couldn’t lie in blistering heat for hours on end.
  • Big Party or Small Gathering?
    • Small gathering – I’ll bring the Pringles and Pepsi Max, where are we meeting?
  • New Clothes or New Phone?
    • New clothes – specifically new jeans that fit, please, stat!
  • Rich Friend or Loyal Friend?
    • Loyal friend – that’s an easy one to answer
  • Football or Basketball?
    • Basketball – I had to sneak to the boys team at school to play basketball as girls weren’t given the opportunity to play it.
  • Nice Car or Nice Home Interior?
    • Nice Home Interior – And preferably my own home to be able to enjoy this home interior!
  • Whatโ€™s worse: Laundry or Dishes?
    • Laundry. Washing dishes I sometimes find strangely therapeutic.
  • Jogging or Hiking?
    • Hiking and taking in the scenery.
  • Bath or Shower?
    • Shower – nice and hot with lots of lovely scented shower gel
  • Sneakers or Sandals?
    • Sneakers for comfort
  • Glasses or Contacts?
    • Glasses as the thought of pushing contacts into my eyes makes me itch
  • Hamburger or Taco?
    • Hamburger (shamefully have to admit I’ve never had a taco…)
  • Couch or Recliner?
    • Couch as long as it’s a comfy, your-bum-sinks-in kind of sofa, but a recliner is better on my hips. How about a reclining sofa? ๐Ÿ˜‰
  • Online Shopping or Shopping in a Store?
    • Online shopping for ease of comparing products and prices and looking at discounts without getting exhausted
  • Receive: Email or Letter?
    • Letter – I still get excited when the postman arrives!
  • Passenger or Driver?
    • Driver
  • Tablet or Computer?
    • Computer as long as its a laptop. I love using a tablet for some things but when it comes to regular use and typing I need a proper keyboard
  • Most important in a partner: Intelligent or Funny?
    • An intelligently funny guy ๐Ÿ˜‰
  • Car or Truck?
    • Car
  • Blue or Red?
    • Red
  • Money or Free Time?
    • Free Time
  • Amusement Park or Day at the Beach?
    • Day at the Beach – an amusement park appeals until I remember that I hate scary rides
  • At a movie: Candy or Popcorn?
    • Candy – I hate the popcorn you get in cinemas, it’s like rubbery cardboard
  • Pen or Pencil?
    • Pen, specifically a biro
  • Toilet paper: Over or Under?
    • Over, to go under is just wrong
  • Cups in the cupboard: Right Side Up or Up Side Down?
    • Right side up as I don’t like the thought of the rim being placed on a potentially dirty surface to then drink from
  • Pancake or Waffle?
    • Pancake but only marginally as I’m not too bothered by either
  • Coke or Pepsi?
    • Pepsi Max, of which I probably drink far too much
  • Coffee Cup or Thermos?
    • Coffee cup
  • Blinds or Curtain?
    • Blinds as they’re neater and open up a room
  • Train or Plane?
    • Train, not that I can afford to go on them anymore given the sky-high prices
  • Phone or Tablet?
    • Phone for convenience
  • Iced Coffee or Hot Coffee?
    • Neither as I hate coffee. Love the smell, detest the taste
  • Meat or Vegetables?
    • Possibly veggies as I love peas
  • International Vacation or a New TV?
    • International vacation
  • Save or Spend?
    • Save
  • Honesty or Otherโ€™s Feelings?
    • I don’t quite understand this one. Would I choose to be honest or tell a white lie to save person X’s feelings? I’d go honesty
  • Coffee or Tea?
    • Make tea, not war. Tea all the way
  • TV or Book?
    • Book, preferably an American crime thriller
  • Movie at Home or Movie at the Theater?
    • Movie at home for the comfort aspect and cheapness. However, I do love the cinema experience
  • Ocean or Mountains?
    • Ocean as there’s something very optimistic and inspiring about seeing an endless ocean and beautiful water
  • Horror Movie or Comedy Movie?
    • Horror movie, even though they just don’t make ’em like they used to
  • City or Countryside?
    • Countryside for the peace and quiet and break from stress
  • Winter or Summer?
    • Summer most certainty – my body doesn’t cope well with cold, miserable weather, which is a shame as that’s 99% of the British weather
  • Mac or PC?
    • Mac – Again with the going-to-the-dark-side aspect, once I went to Mac I couldn’t go back as I’ve had so few problems with MacBook compared to every other Windows laptop I’ve owned in the past
  • Console Gaming or PC Gaming?
    • Console gaming
  • Soup or Sandwich?
    • Sandwich
  • Card Game or Board Game?
    • Possibly board game as long as it’s not overly complicated and frustrating!
  • Camping or Binge Watching Shows at Home?
    • Shows at home, though I’ve enjoyed camping in the past
  • Working Alone or Working in a Team?
    • Working alone, as anti-social as that may sound
  • Dine In or Delivery?
    • If this means whether to eat out or eat at home, then the latter as you can usually guarantee what the food will be like with no nasty surprises
  • Sweater or Hoodie?
    • Hoodie to snuggle in
  • Motorcycle or Bicycle?
    • Bicycle. I used to want to ride a motorcycle when I was a child, but owning a leather jacket and leather boots is the closest I came to that.
  • Book or eBook?
    • Book – I find something comforting about holding a ‘real’ book, turning the pages, and visiting a library or bookshop to browse.
  • When sleeping: Fan or No Fan?
    • Fan? This is the UK – it’s cold the majority of the time so it’s a 13.5 tog duvet and two blankets. No fan.
  • TV shows or Movies?
    • That’s a tough call, but I’m more hooked with shows (series) lately.

5 Things Tag

I was kindly nominated for this on the MyMS2016 blog and I love the idea behind it.  The rules are simple :

  • List 5 things you like about yourself
  • 1 thing must be a physical attribute

So, the rules are simple, and yet writing this list is damn difficult!

  1. My empathy  –  I like to think I’m pretty empathic, that I consider the motivations, feelings and thoughts of the other person in any given situation.
  2. I’m open minded and like to learn
  3. My music taste (cue rock, metal & 80s cheese, in that order)
  4. My wrists as the one body part for this challenge
  5. My sarcasm & sense of humour (I wouldn’t have stayed even borderline sane without it)

I struggled with this but I’d love for anyone else to give it a try – whether you post it as a blog, in the comments, or just reflect on it for your own personal challenge ๐Ÿ™‚

Definitely a long one but I quite like reading the responses of other bloggers for these tags, like bite-sized chunks of information to give an insight into their lives. Hope you’re having a lovely weekend and that the sun is shining a little where you are! ๐Ÿ™‚

Agree especially on the dine in and movie at home things. It’s so comfy and easy to prepare!

Definitely, you can suit yourself what you eat, when you take a break, how many blankets you snuggle up with, whether you stretch your legs out without hitting someone in the head in front of you! Hope you enjoy a nice film night at home soon ๐Ÿ™‚

Sometimes I think an imaginary dog is more realistic than new jeans that fit…

I love reading these tags. Love the ice cream cone and a flake – my favourite too. Happy weekend. ????

Oooo yes, you can’t quite beat a Mr Whippy type ice cream with a flake, even if they are 3 times the price they used to be when I was a child! Hope you get to enjoy one soon, Brigid ๐Ÿ™‚

This was cool to read! No taco? Whenever you decide to try one please remember that hard shell, beef tacos with sour cream are the best! ๐Ÿ˜‰

InvisiblyMe May 20, 2018 - 4:50 pm

I don’t do sour cream, but perhaps I could try it without that? Or would a dry, hard-shell taco be a no-go? x

I get so excited about letters, or any post really. ๐Ÿ™‚ Much more exciting than emails. ๐Ÿ™‚ xxx

Totally agree – unless it’s a hospital letter or a tax letter, then I wish the postie had kept on walking! ๐Ÿ™‚

I know these are super long, but it was so much fun reading! I loved getting to know you more and seeing how much a like we are! I love to shop online!! I think the president has completely ruined Twitter for me, although I knew used it anyway. I do have Facebook! I love the beach and my body prefers summer over winter! I hope you have a wonderful weekend, with NO talk of the royal wedding!!!

InvisiblyMe May 20, 2018 - 5:44 pm

The wedding it hard to avoid but I solved it by listening to music and looking at a wall for a few hours!!
We are quite alike – I love it! The only thing with online shopping for me is that I want free delivery and returns (or a code for a discount) because 80% of the time clothes have to go back, anything but clothes is fine. Hope you are having a lovely, relaxing weekend, Alyssa. Thanks for taking the time to read this (super long) post ๐Ÿ™‚

No. It’s awful, right? I feel I’m missing out on something potentially spectacular. What kind of taco would you recommend?

Isn’t it strange what one person likes and the other does not. Great answers, nice reading up on you. Found you via Sandee’s blog.

thank you for sharing and incorporating these challenges together!
I also prefer books to ebooks ๐Ÿ˜‰ there is something serene and even transformative about reading from a paged book

take care xx
