Frugal Friday Deals [ 02/02/2018 ]

by InvisiblyMe

Not only is it Friday again, it’s also February! I don’t know how 2018 has been going for you all so far, but I’m glad January is out of the way. I’m hoping things start to pick up a little from here. And what better way to start it with some frugal deals & discounts!

Free Planner Templates

I came across this fab site that has a range of free planning printables – I print and use this neat weekly planner, but there are plenty of designs and styles to choose from, including day planners, weekly planners, covers, and monthly calendars.  *Expired Offer*

HobbyCraft (UK)

Hobbycraft (UK) have their own Club, which you can join for free by picking up a card in store or by registering online here first. They’ll send special offers, give you access to free downloads and even send you a £5 voucher on your birthday! If you fancy a browse, they have a great Clearance section at the moment of crafty bits and bobs.

Check Your Prescription Costs

For those in the UK getting NHS prescriptions, it’s a good time to review how you’re paying for them with prices likely to rise again in April. The current cost per prescription is £8.60. A PPC (Prepayment Certificate) can be bought to cover the costs of all of your prescriptions for 3 months or 12 months :

  • £29.10 for 3 months (pay by card)
  • £104 for 12 months (pay by card or Direct Debit with 10-monthly instalments of £10.40)

With this in mind, if you need 2 items per month, you could say over £100 with the 12 month PPC. If you need 4 items each month, you’d be saving over £305 with the 12 month PPC.

You can find more information about PPCs and apply online here.

Some people will be entitled to a medical exemption certificate, for instance those with certain long term illnesses. You can find information about these here.

There’s also the HC1 form that can be filled in (to possibly get an HC2 for help towards healthcare costs) for those in certain situations on low income. You find find information on this and how to apply here.

Frugal Blog Hosting

Interested in starting your own blog, or do you perhaps want to move your current blog to a cheaper self-hosting option? I currently use Vidahost with their Wordpress Hosting Starter Plan and I’ve found them to be brilliant thus far. If you want a host provider that includes a domain name without it costing the earth, then they’re worth checking out. If you use this link and the code ‘invme10’ you’ll also get 10% off – every little helps! 🙂

Whatever you’re up to this weekend, I hope you’re well and wrapped up warm!

Glad you like the printables, they’re pretty funky (and very useful!) Yes, prescriptions are certainly pricey, so it’s a shame not many area aware of ways to save on the costs. Thanks for taking the time to leave a lovely comment 🙂
