Invisible and/or chronic illness or disability can take a lot from you. Your happiness, your concentration, friends, relationships, work/life balance.

Take back some control. Don’t shy away. Be yourself, be proud, appreciate what you do have. Listen to your body and do what you need to do to make sure you are okay, even if that means saying “no” or feeling as though you’ve let someone down. Don’t apologise for who you are or the condition(s) you have.

You’re stronger than you think. So Live Loud & Live Fierce.

Great words. As a PICU nurse for years and a nursing instructor, I saw so many sick kids. Their illness doesn’t have to define them.

So very true. Illness and disability doesn’t have to define who you are, nor should you feel the need to apologise. Thank you for the comment 🙂

You are so right about this. When I first taught. One mother told me that her son has heart problem. She didn’t expect him to live too long and didn’t expect him to do well at school. He did fine for many many years. So I don’t know what happened to him after he left our school.
I can’t find a follow button for your blog. Can I follow you?

I’m glad he did well at school; it’s always such a shame when you hear of someone not being expected to do well or live long, but wonderful when you hear that they have defied the odds. I think the follow button shows up at the bottom right when you scroll down on most Wordpress blogs. I’ll see if I can get another Wordpress follow button installed to make it easier if I can. Otherwise there’s an email subscription on the right hand side, or the Facebook page http://www.facebook.com/invisiblymeblog. Thanks for the comment 🙂
